Durango Derailers has been a life saver for our family when traveling to Denver for Children’s Hospital visits multiple times a year. When we began our medical journey with our daughter three years ago we were overwhelmed with the thought of travel costs and making sure we could get her the best care possible while not going into massive debt. The generosity of the Derailers program gave us the ability to get where we needed to go without so much financial stress. We are so blessed and are so very grateful for the Durango Derailers fund.

REACHING MORE FAMILIES

We have revamped our intake process in order to make it easier and less time-consuming for families to access our funds. It is all electronic now, with no need to print and email or fax! We are excited for this update and hope we can reach more families through it.

DID YOU KNOW?

ANY local family with a child receiving specialty medical care outside of our area is eligible to receive Durango Derailers funding. Regardless of financial status, diagnosis, or clinic/hospital location, families are able to receive support through gas and lodging assistance.

DONOR SPOTLIGHT

San Juan Smiles Dental Center of Durango partnered with Durango Derailers Patient Assistance Fund this year at the Diamond club level to help bring so much hope to local families.

Dr. Lacey and San Juan Smiles are committed to rallying for their community and have shown that through their continued support of Durango Derailers over the years. Not only have they joined us in sponsorship, but Dr. Lacey is slated to dance in our upcoming Dancing with the Durango Stars! Be sure to come cheer him on in the Spring!

STEERING COMMITTEE SPOTLIGHT

Meet Sarah and Ross Douglas

Sarah and Ross are two of our awesome steering committee members, team riders, graphic designer extraordinaires, and all around amazing supporters of Team Durango Derailers. 

Sarah and Ross joined us in 2014, when they rode the Courage Classic for Team Durango Derailers. Shortly after in 2015, they joined the steering committee to help keep the team on mission. Together with their two daughters, they continued to ride in the Courage Classic for many years. Sarah creates the magic behind our branding and graphics; designing our logo, team jerseys and kits, Dancing with the Durango Stars material, and more. Every year, they gear up to ride the Iron Horse for Team Durango Derailers, raising money the families of the mission. 

When asked their “why” for their commitment to the team, they responded, “We know so many people whose families have benefited from the fund. And we love knowing that the funds raised through Durango Derailers are directly benefiting families in Southern Colorado. We also really love cycling, so being able to ride the Iron Horse and know that our efforts are benefiting so many families ... it's a win-win.”
