Quarterly Update - July 2024
64 riders showed their determination and care for the kids by braving the frigid temperatures and snow to complete the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic over Memorial Day Weekend. Over $50,000 was raised by these dedicated riders, bringing so much hope and future assistance to local kids and their families! Riders and their families gathered at our tent in Silverton to celebrate their big finish. Our fingers may have been freezing, but the fortitude and support of Team Durango Derailers warmed our hearts!

Dear Durango Derailers,
Our family is forever grateful for your support. Having two Deaf children in rural Colorado means frequent trips to Denver for audiology services. Since we have been connected with the Derailers, the stress of taking our sweet little Lettie and Arlo (and their superstar big brother, Sawyer) on such big trips has become so much less stressful for our family. Thank you for all you do for our children and other families like ours in the community!

We have revamped our intake process in order to make it easier and less time-consuming for families to access our funds. It is all electronic now, with no need to print and email or fax! We are excited for this update and hope we can reach more families through it.
If you know of families that are traveling out of our area for pediatric specialty care, please have them fill out an intake form at https://forms.gle/1eJh8P3DyZmX4BQ66
| Did you catch our Co-Directors on the Durango Local News? If you missed it, you can watch it HERE! | Meet Rose Maes, our new Program Co-Manager at Durango Derailers. Rose is an FLC alumni, longtime SW Colorado resident, and mama to two kiddos, Bridger and Norah. When Bridger was born 10 weeks early, requiring a lengthy NICU stay and many follow up appointments out of town, Rose became passionate about caring for families having to navigate medical care and NICU stays for their children. When not chasing her kids around, Rose works in planning events and weddings in the Four Corners. Rose joined Durango Derailers in 2024 and looks forward to keeping our families and community connected through our newsletter, social media, and events. | | |

Coca Cola of Durango partnered with Durango Derailers Patient Assistance Fund this year to support our mission to help our local families.
Supporting community is a cornerstone of Coca Cola of Durango, therefore, joining us through sponsorship of our Team Durango Derailers and having riders on our team for the Iron Horse Classic Climb for Kids was a perfect way for them to become involved. Because of partners like Coca Cola of Durango we are able to provide children with hope and support to get them the pediatric specialty care they need.

A few days before the Iron Horse race, members of Team Durango Derailers and other supporters and families gathered to share a burger, rally for the ride ahead, and meet one another. A huge thanks to Grassburger for donating 20% of their proceeds to DDPAF. We were able to raise over $300!
