Webinar: Materials Management Model for Electrical Contractors

Join ECAO for a webinar presented by Hala Nassereddine from the University of Kentucky on a recent ELECTRI research project focused on documenting best practices in the area of construction materials management. Hala’s team has developed an Outside of the Gate Materials Management Model for Electrical Contractors (OUTGAM3E) Tool to help electrical contractors in self-assessing, benchmarking, and improvement their outside of the gate materials management activities. This webinar will provide an overview of the research and share an example of OUTGAM3E in action.

As the construction industry is positioned for strong growth, material shortages, price volatility, delivery delays, and pandemic-induced supply chain disruptions, coupled with a lack of communication and transparency, continue to create challenges for electrical contractors. Managing construction materials outside of the gate has a direct impact on project performance and provides electrical contractors the means to be proactive and effectively plan for materials (from early project phases to delivery) and avoid costly mistakes during project execution. In a period of intense introspection where electrical contractors are pushed to address pressing materials concerns while continuously wrestling with long-standing challenges.

About Hala Nassereddine

Hala Nassereddine, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in Construction Engineering and Project Management, a program within the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Kentucky. Hala was awarded the Russell J Alessi ELECTRI International 2020 Early Career Award for her proposal on Allocating and Leveraging BIM Efforts for Electrical Contractors and has been working with ELECTRI and Graybar on the Outside of the Gate Materials Management research for almost a year. In addition to her work with ELECTRI, Hala has worked on multiple research projects for various organizations including the Construction Industry Institute (CII) and National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP).

Get help from the experts with CCDC Document Webinars

The winter schedule is focused on helping you build a solid foundation in construction management.

January: CCDC 5A and CCDC 17 webinar

Construction management (CM) is a project delivery method that takes a team-based approach to the construction process. CCDC’s January webinar will discuss the key differences between having the owner contract directly with the trade contractors (as seen in the CCDC 5A and 17) and having the trades contract with the construction manager (by using CCDC 5B). This webinar will present the key provisions and philosophy behind these CM methods.

February: CCDC 5B webinar

February’s webinar will take a detailed look at CCDC 5B – Construction Management Contract – for Services and Construction under which the construction manager engages trade contractors as subcontractors and is responsible for their performance. The CCDC authors will focus on how to execute the various options offered within this contract document.
