Help Shape the Future of the CRCC Code of Ethics

Apply to Serve on the

2028 Code Revision Task Force by October 1st

Greetings!

The CRCC Code of Professional Ethics for Rehabilitation Counselors (Code of Ethics) serves as a foundation for the rehabilitation counseling profession.

For over 25 years, these standards have guided Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRCs) as they navigate complex decisions, uphold professional standards, and serve individuals with disabilities with integrity and accountability.

As the profession and the environments in which CRCs practice continue to evolve, the Code of Ethics must evolve as well. Every five years, the CRCC Ethics Committee leads the code revision process to ensure standards and expectations are relevant and reflect the field.

CRCC is seeking dedicated CRCs to serve on the 2028 Code Revision Task Force and help shape the next chapter of ethical practice in rehabilitation counseling.

Who Can Apply?

A strong and meaningful Code of Ethics must reflect the perspectives and experiences of CRCs across the profession.

We encourage applications from CRCs representing a wide range of work settings and areas of expertise, including education, private practice, state vocational rehabilitation, community and nonprofit organizations, healthcare, workforce and employment services, and other areas of rehabilitation counseling practice.

The Task Force will bring together diverse voices and professional experiences to review the current Code of Ethics, consider emerging issues affecting the profession, and help ensure the revised Code continues to provide meaningful guidance for CRCs and the individuals they serve.

Commitment and Timeline

The 2028 Code Revision Task Force will begin its work in January 2027 and wrap up in early 2028. All work will be conducted virtually.

Task Force members should expect:

  • Monthly virtual meetings
  • Additional virtual working group meetings throughout the revision process
  • Opportunities to collaborate with fellow CRCs from diverse professional backgrounds
  • A meaningful role in shaping the ethical standards that guide the rehabilitation counseling profession

Continuing Education Awarded

The Code Revision Task Force members will earn 50 hours of continuing education (CE) credit, of which 10 hours of CE can be applied to Ethics. In January 2028, CEs will be awarded upon completion and full attendance of all meetings. CRCC does not prorate CE hours.
