On any given day, more than 22,000 cybersecurity jobs stand unfilled in the Fort Meade Region, leaving Maryland and the nation vulnerable to cyberattacks.

For nearly a year, a Fort Meade Alliance steering committee dissected the realities of the cybersecurity/information technology (CS/IT) workforce and identified five key challenges to expanding it. Then in February, members of the Fort Meade Alliance came together virtually to dig into the challenges of “Solving the Cyber Workforce Shortage.” The webinar focused on the single biggest challenge to expanding the CS/IT workforce: building diversity.

The Fort George G. Meade Resiliency Services portal is now live after more than a year of extensive work to create, design and execute this vital community resource.

Registration is now open for our annual Rising Stars Network’s Mentorship Program, which connects young professionals with established industry mentors who are willing to share their career insight.

The Rising Stars Network targets emerging professionals 35 years or younger who are part of an FMA member company. The group offers cross-industry networking opportunities, mentorship activities, educational programming, volunteer opportunities and more.  

Fort Meade shifted its access control points beginning this past Monday, March 15, 2021 when the Rockenbach Gate opened to traffic. After nearly a decade of work, the Rockenbach Gate along MD 175 is now opened from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. The gate will be closed on weekends.

The Reece Road ACP will close on Friday and remain closed to facilitate the completion of a $30M renovation project, which is scheduled to continue into 2024.

Our sister organization, the FMA Foundation, continues their campaign affectionately known as the Circle of Support which helps fund FMA efforts. With an annual goal to raise $75,000 this year to help fund FMA efforts, $24,650 has been raised as of March 16, 2021. And new donations and pledges continues to build each week — even as you read! Understanding State and County Resources was the topic for February followed by Best Practices for Teaming and Contracting in March.
