LCMC - A Year in Review

Tutor Maggie Bruno and her students
As we marked our 53rd anniversary of providing free English instruction, we are pleased to report that, with the support of our volunteers, donors and partners, we were able to help over 1,750 adult learners improve their English language proficiency - a 25% growth over the past 5 years!

Miguel at his Naturalization Oath Ceremony
We are so proud to announce that our student, Miguel, was sworn in as U.S. citizen on September 28, 2016. Miguel has been a student in LCMC's tutoring program since 2011. This accomplishment was one of Miguel's biggest goals for the past two years. Miguel and his tutor, Peter, worked very hard to prepare for the Civics exam. Congratulations  Miguel and Peter for your hard work!

Brothers Nathan and Joshua with their GED® Certificates
Brothers Nathan and Joshua were students of LCMC's iPathways program. In October 2016, they successfully completed the General Education  Development  (GED®) program and received their GED® certificates. Congratulations Nathan and Joshua for all your hard work and dedication. YOU DID IT!

"I'm Sarah. I came from South Korea 9 years ago. I want to speak English well. But I didn't have any opportunity to study English. One day my friend introduced me to the Literacy Council program. And I started to have the Literacy class with a good teacher. I got my citizenship after studying U.S. history with my teacher. I am so glad to have met my English teacher. I still study English in the Literacy Council program. I will be better to speak English if I study hard. Thank you for all your help."                                                                                              - Sarah, ESL Student
