Celebrating Residents' Achievements
We are using only the first letter of residents' names to protect their privacy. Residents have given permission to use their photos.
Resident "R1"
"R1" has really embraced her opportunities at Ruth Harbor! She is taking online classes for her HiSET (high school equivalency exam) and is volunteering to tutor children at Freedom for Youth, one of our partner organizations in the Des Moines area. Recently the Des Moines home held a gender reveal party for "Resident R1" (pictured at right). We're happy to share that she is expecting a healthy baby girl.
Resident "A"
"A" (pictured at left) saved enough money to pay-off the fines that were preventing her from driving, and is happy to be back behind the wheel. She was also recently promoted to shift lead at Popeyes restaurant.

ο»ΏResident "R2"
"R2" has been working to pay-off her debt so she will have more financial freedom when she leaves Ruth Harbor. To date she has paid-down half of her debt ($3,700). Congratulations "R2"!
You Should Get To Know
Chris Eller, Board Member
We welcomed Chis to the Ruth Harbor Ministries Board of Directors in December 2020, along with one other board member (whom you'll "meet" in next month's eNews).

Chris applied to the Ruth Harbor Board because he feels he can contribute to the long-term fulfillment of its mission. He was drawn to this ministry because he believes few causes should matter more than the life of an unborn child, and he saw Ruth Harbor as being a unique and essential component to providing a safe harbor for moms who want to give birth to their child, but also need the care, provision, and protection.
Chris Eller
"As an extension of the body of Christ, Ruth Harbor fulfills both the Great Commandment and the Great Commission in Central Iowa today," shared Chris.

Chris and his wife of the same name, Chris, live in Ankeny, Iowa. They have three children Jacob, Jonathan (married to Abby), and Julianne, and one grandchild, Taren. Chris works for the Baptist Convention of Iowa and is a member of First Family Church in Ankeny. For relaxation, Chris enjoys reading, writing, photography and mowing.
Supporters "Exercise" Generosity
We believe - and teach - that God cares about every aspect of us. He wants us to be healthy mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically. With that in mind, we recently requested donations of exercise equipment for our Carlisle home so we can encourage residents to maintain physical health while working on the health of their mind, emotions and spirit.

We are very thankful to supporters Dick & Cheryl K., who donated four pieces of workout equipment, and to Jess G. who donated a treadmill.

As you can see, the residents were quite eager to use the new-to-them equipment!
Carlisle House Parent, Matthew (left), welcomes donated workout equipment from Dick K.
Do you have workout equipment you don't use?
Please contact aimee@ruthharbor.org if you have gently-used exercise equipment you don't use any longer (yoga mats, workout videos, small weights, tension bands, etc.). We're specifically searching for a modern stationary bike in good condition.
