What is the Mineral Area Chamber Alliance?

Exactly what is the Mineral Area Chamber Alliance?  You may remember, one of goals for the past year was to create more positive and active roles in partnering with our sister chambers in different ways.  With that thought in mind, The Mineral Area Chamber Alliance group was formed.

This group consists of your Park Hills - Leadington Chamber and 5-other neighboring Chambers that include Bonne Terre, Desloge, Farmington, Fredricktown and Ste. Genevieve.

The efforts of this group will focus on legislative issues that could potentially affect you, as a small business owner.

Join us for the March 18th Investor Meeting when Doug McDermott MACA Creator and Farmington Chamber of Commerce President/CEO.  Outlines the group's ideas and intentions.

We will meet at Charboneau's A & C Restaurant at 12:00 p.m. for the luncheon.  Register your attendance online now at:  MARCH INVESTOR MEETING.

All About Business
Ten Habits of Remarkably Giving People
Think giving is easy?  Think again...

Think about people you truly respect. Think about people you truly admire. Think about people you love to be around. They may not be rich. They may not be highly accomplished. They may not be household names.

Yet you love to be around them--and you would love to be more like them. What sets them apart from everyone else?

They give: generously, selflessly, and without expectation of return. They give because their happiness--and their success--comes from someone else's happiness and someone else's success.

Here's what they give:

1. The gift of praise. Everyone, even relatively poor performers, does something well. That's why everyone deserves praise and appreciation. It's easy for most of us to recognize great employees; after all, they do great things. (Of course it's very possible that consistent praise is one of the reasons they've become great.)

Five Opportunities You're Probably Missing on LinkedIn

Sure you are accepting connections, but are you really getting value on LinkedIn? Make sure you are taking advantage in these five proactive ways.

LinkedIn has become a regular part of business life.  But other than prospecting or recruiting, you may not be getting real value from this expansive resource.  Only about 16 percent of the people who are signed up use the premium service. And many profiles sit with minimal or outdated information.

LinkedIn is not a toy or even a social network.  It is a tool for you to grow yourself and your network. Even if you are not selling something or searching for employees, there are wonderful ways to use LinkedIn to grow your mind, your network and your business objectives.  But you have to proactively take the steps to get the value.  Here are 5 ways to do it.

1. Make yourself a desirable target. So many people put minimal information on their profile. I understand that not everyone is comfortable for self-promotion. But your profile should reflect not only your experience, but also your interests and your personality. The more detailed information you provide, the easier it is for people looking for someone like you will recognize you as someone worthy of their time...
