February Luncheon: Maximize Your Database for Fundraising Success
null
Speaker: Chris Painchaud
Thursday, February 4, 2016
11:30 - 1:15pm

Your donor database is likely a large investment on the part of your organization, in both time and money. It's also a critical component of your fundraising efforts. So why let this asset go underutilized?  In this session, we will cover the tenets of effective database usage, no matter what program or vendor you use. We will show examples of best practices in data management, communication segmenting, engagement tracking and reporting in order to help your team work smarter, not harder.

Registration ends today at 5:00pm.

Dear AFP of Eastern Oklahoma Chapter Professionals & Friends:

Do you find yourself already knee-deep in your 2016 fundraising strategy? Or do you feel uncertain as to what path to take?

February is the month of endless possibilities! With January to reflect, dream, plan and prepare, now 11 months stretch before us to achieve what we envision. But all too often I've looked up from my work to find it's suddenly October, and I've longed to turn over the hourglass for do-over.

In a profession measured in dollars and cents the margin for error feels razor thin. So it's easy to bury ourselves in perfecting the process rather than getting up and out to make things happen. But as successful fundraisers, we know that our organizations are only as good as the plans we enact, not the ones we keep up on the shelf.

"Nothing beats a "no holds barred" conversation with an individual who can help create a plan, way forward, or smarter approach. The AFP mentorship program will pair individuals to put these conversations in action in a meaningful, authentic way.
Each member of AFP Eastern Oklahoma will have the opportunity to sign up for one topic related to fundraising.  Members who have about five years in development should consider serving as mentors, those with 1 - 4 years should consider being the mentee.   Each mentor will have the chance to sign up on a postcard provided at the tables at the AFP luncheons or on-line.  Members who sign up will be invited to a gathering at the home of Carolyn Blair, mentorship chair, on May 19, 2016 from 3:00 - 4:30 where each will meet their respective mentor. From there, the program is mentor/mentee directed.  Approximately two meetings should help a mentee build confidence in the topic where they have indicated they need some direction.  Mentors will benefit in gaining management experience and figuring out how their communication style helps their mentee.  The mentor and mentee may choose to meet over coffee, lunch, after an AFP luncheon, or by telephone." - Carolyn Blair, 2016 Mentoring Chair
