MentorshipMentorship Program

Having a mentor is a great way to help you stay on track all year! This exclusive program is a benefit for members of the AFP Eastern Oklahoma Chapter. Why not take advantage of it today? The relationship goes both ways, and mentors have commented how much they love the program.

The purpose of the mentorship program is to improve yourself as a professional fundraiser. The mentor/mentee relationship works as a sounding board for ideas, thoughts, trends in the industry, and a safe place to ask questions. Your mentor/mentee keeps the relationship confidential. You can discuss anything under the fundraising sun. The mentee is encouraged to select discussion topics. The time commitment is around 1 hour per month.

Stay fresh, stay current, and be connected. Sign up by February 10th!
CFREWhat is CFRE?

Did you know that CFRE certification serves as an impartial, third-party endorsement of your knowledge and experience against international standards in philanthropy?  The CFRE adds credibility to you as a fundraiser and sets you apart from other professionals.

Don't forget, the application deadline: First period testing dates for 2018 - January 15th through March 15. Application deadline is January 5th.  Second period testing dates for 2018 - April 15th through June 15th. Application deadline is April 5th.

Did you know that our chapter has 22 CFRE members?  This month's CFRE highlight is from Carolyn Blair, Executive Director of Saint Simeon's Foundation.  Carolyn says, "Looking back on the season I decided to sit for the CFRE exam I wish I had spent far less time stewing over it.  The amount of time someone is considering sitting for the exam far outweighs taking the test.  Go for it!  Also, I am glad I have the certification if only because I work in a highly licensed type of environment.  The CFRE designation allows me to pinpoint an educational accomplishment specific to development which can be important for someone with broad based undergraduate humanities degree".
