Local Organizations Invited to Participate in LAP-AID  
Linn Area Partners Active in Disaster (LAP-AID) brings together more than 30 local health and human service providers, government agencies, funding sources, and faith-based organizations. LAP-AID builds a better-prepared and more resilient Linn County by reducing duplicated services and inefficiencies during disasters. Their goal is to empower communities, expedite response, improve management of volunteers and donations, and provide resources for long-term recovery.
LAP-AID is organized in a discipline specific team structure and is led by an executive group. If you are interested in joining the work of LAP-AID, please review the brochure here and complete the interest form here . Teams vary in size. Find a complete list of teams on the interest form.
LAP-AID meets quarterly, and the next meeting is on April 30, 2019. Please contact Betty Ehlinger for more information.
Community Foundation Grant Deadline Schedule
The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation has announced the 2019 grant deadline schedule. Please note that the fall grant cycle deadline has been moved to three weeks earlier than in previous years.
Spring Grant Cycle applications due Friday, February 15, 2019, at 4:30 p.m.
Summer Grant Cycle applications due Friday, June 14, 2019, at 4:30 p.m.
Fall Grant Cycle applications due Friday, September 20, 2019, at 4:30 p.m.

NewBo City Market Nonprofit Fair February 23
NewBo City Market invites nonprofits to participate in a Nonprofit Fair on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nonprofits are invited to participate free of charge, or for just $20 if you'd like to sell anything (tickets, merchandise, etc.). An eight foot table and chairs are provided. Please reserve your space by emailing Logan Schultz at logan@newbocitymarket.org .

Tanager Place To Host Two February Forums
Tanager Place will host two free events in February. On Friday, February 15, at 10 a.m. at Coe College's Sinclair Auditorium, Adam Foss presents Swords and Shields: A discussion of Power, Privilege and Opportunity . Mr. Foss is the Executive Director of Prosecutor Impact and a nationally renowned speaker. The program will continue the community conversation regarding ways we can combat violence in our communities, as well as how we can ensure the criminal justice system is equal for all. There is no charge to attend. Find information here .
On Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 1 p.m. in Coe College's Kesler Lecture Hall, Tanager Place will host a screening of a documentary film called Uncommon Allies . The film talks about the grassroots efforts to stem the tide of violence in Kansas City. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the documentarian and film participants. City of Cedar Rapids Offers Free goIT Class To Nonprofits, Educators, and Volunteers
The City of Cedar Rapids, in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, will hold a free, one-day facilitator training program for TCS' goIT program. The session will be held on Wednesday, March 13, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Economic Alliance. Participants will train to become certified in teaching the youth in our community about computational and design thinking, technology skills, and designing an entrepreneurial pitch. Wellmark Foundation Announces 2019 MATCH Grants
Wellmark Foundation has announced its 2019 MATCH grant programs for 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations in Iowa and South Dakota. Funding focuses on two key areas: increasing access to and consumption of nutritious foods, and creating safe and healthy environments in which to be active.
