The Regional District of Nanaimo manages the contract for garbage, recycling and food waste collection in the region.

| | 2026 Curbside Collection Calendars & Winter Weather | | |
The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) mailed out the 2026 Curbside Collection Calendars in November. You can access the latest calendar, and register for weekly collection reminders and service alerts here.
Please note, during severe winter weather, every effort is made to collect curbside materials. If your cart is not collected by 6pm, check the online service alerts for more information and next steps.
| | Long Term Care Facility: Update | |
At the January 28, 2026, meeting of Council, the rezoning application for 6910 Lantzville Road was approved and the development permit for a long-term care facility was issued. Island Health has confirmed in addition to long-term care spaces, the facility will include child daycare, an adult day program and hospice beds.

| Fourth Quarter Utility Bills Due February 16, 2026 | |
Utility bills for the fourth quarter of 2025 were sent out in mid-January. If you have registered to have the bill sent to your email, you will not get a copy in your mailbox.
Payments are due by February 16, 2026, and can be made directly through your online banking, or by cash, cheque, or debit at the Municipal Hall.
Please note, as February 16 is Family Day, a statutory holiday, the Municipal Hall will be closed. Please plan accordingly.
| RDN Environmental Rebates Available | |
You may be eligible for funding to help make your property more sustainable and climate-friendly. The Regional District of Nanaimo has a number of rebates available, many which they offer to residents of their member municipalities including Lantzville. You can explore rebates for environmentally friendly home upgrades, such as rainwater collection systems, septic system repairs, and private well testing.

Family Day and Beban Park's 50th Anniversary will be celebrated at Beban Park on Monday, February 16, 10am-230pm. There will be many FREE activities including swimming, skating, inflatables, story time, face painting, games, crafts, a photo booth and so much more!
- Our Spring and Summer Activity Guide comes out on Friday, February 27. Aquatics registration will begin on Wednesday March, 4, and all other program registration will start on March 11.
- Lion's Free Skates happen every Sunday from 12-130pm at Frank Crane Arena. Admission and skate rentals are free!

Free BC Family Day Swim & Skate on Monday, February 16. Ravensong Aquatic Centre 10am-2pm and Oceanside Place Arena 1-4pm. Session maximums will be in place. Free admission and skate rentals courtesy of CUPE 401 Group. View all the swim & skate schedules here.
| | Active Transportation Plan Engagement | | |
The District of Lantzville is in the process of creating an Active Transportation Plan to improve walking and cycling connections between neighborhoods, the village core, and Nanaimo.
On Thursday, February 5, from 300-630pm, District representatives will be at Costin Hall, 7232 Lantzville Road, for a public engagement session. Come by to see what is developing and provide your feedback and ideas.

Nanaimo’s Bastion Run Club will be hosting a 12 km road running race in Lantzville on Sunday, February 22, 2026 as a part of the Vancouver Island Race Series in Lantzville.
The race will take place from 11AM to 1PM starting at Aspengrove School, running over Clark Dr, Blackjack Dr, the E&N trail, Ronald Rd, Phillip Rd, some of Superior Road and then back to Aspengrove. Traffic control professionals will be on the course to minimize delays to traffic flow during this time.

As part of their 8 day, 800km fundraising run, The Wounded Warriors BC Run will be arriving at the Lantzville Legion on Friday, February 27 around Noon. Lantzville is encouraged to come out and cheer on the team!
All funds raised remain on Vancouver Island and help the organization provide mental health services for trauma. Wounded Warriors Canada offers education, counselling, and training approaches to support resiliency and recovery from post-trauma injuries. Funding also goes to support six National Service Dog providers for PTSD and Operation Stress Intervention dogs.
