Hushabye Nursery Family Spotlight

Fidelina heard about Hushabye's services years before she needed them herself. “I read about Hushabye from a flier at the Methadone clinic I’d visited years ago.” As soon as she discovered she was pregnant, she reached out. “The best decision I made despite my fears and uncertainty.”

Throughout her pregnancy, Hushabye Nursery offered advice, prenatal check-ins, and support. “Those sweet souls–the employees and volunteers-were beyond helpful and supportive. I would’ve been so lost without Hushabye.” After giving birth to her beautiful baby girl, Avelina, they were discharged after two weeks. She will be forever grateful for the support and compassion she received. “Hushabye gave me a second chance to do things right.”

The entire staff at Hushabye who worked with Fidelina are thrilled by her resilience and strength. It is success stories like Fidelina’s that truly make everything we do worth it. Asking for help is sometimes the hardest part of the journey.

Fidelina agrees, “Remember your past but don’t dwell on it. Move and grow.”

Our February Employee of the Month: Krisin

Kristin is one of the hardest workers around, constantly putting the needs of families, babies, and team members first. She steps up whenever needed to ensure that things run smoothly in the nursery and everyone is supported. Most recently, she spearheaded making sure every member of our team (almost 300 people) received a holiday gift bag. Hushabye Nursery is so fortunate to have someone like Kristin as one of its leaders. She is definitely a World Changer!

Authority Magazine Interview

Being recognized for doing a good job at what you do shows that you feel passionate about the mission. "I have always been passionate about helping babies and their families. Even with the ever-changing care model, my passion has never wavered," Tara Sundem explained to Cynthia Corsetti during their interview.

Tara, a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, is often compared to a superhero, but her actions were a natural result of her observations. "In 2015, we started seeing an increase in the number of babies withdrawing from the substances they were exposed to prenatally." Tara's heart ached as she watched the babies withdraw, and she wanted to help.

Fast-forward years and many sleepless nights later, Hushabye Nursery has evolved with the community's needs. It is the first NAS-focused nursery in the country to integrate health care and social services.
