Your Federation Dollars at Work:

Protecting Our Community

With the alarming rise in antisemitism, the Jewish Federation of Greater Fairfield County partners with the Secure Community Network (SCN) to build a protective shield around our community -- ensuring that vibrant Jewish life continues to thrive in safety and strength.

When a local synagogue received a bomb threat on a recent Sunday morning, Federation immediately contacted Mike Butsch, our SCN Security Director. Within minutes, Mike confirmed that this same threat had circulated nationally and was deemed not credible. He quickly alerted the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center, local law enforcement, and every Jewish organization in our area -- helping to prevent widespread panic and confusion. No other entity in the country has the capacity to do this, because no other entity in the country is tracking threats nationwide specific to the Jewish community.

Together with our security partners, we:

  • Coordinate with local, state and federal law enforcement to mitigate threats and provide essential training for local community professionals.

  • Empower our community with trainings such as Countering Active Threats, Stop the Bleed, and De-Escalation Tactics.

  • Conduct comprehensive security assessments for all congregations and day schools, and train teachers and staff to respond confidently in emergency situations.

  • Ensure that proper security protocols are in place for all Jewish gatherings and events.

  • Maintain 24/7 coordination with SCN's national Command Center, providing real-time monitoring of the dark web and rapid response for any potential threat.

But we can't do it alone.

Your support helps protect our homes, schools and synagogues -- and ensures that Jewish life in Greater Fairfield County remains vibrant, safe, and strong.
