The Danes Swim Alcatraz to San Francisco for the Second Year
Strong ocean currents tried to break the resolve of Fountain Valley School of Colorado athletes competing in the two-mile Alcatraz Swim but in the end, the Danes emerged from the water exhausted and triumphant.

Dr. Garr Travels to Scotland for Renewable Energy Research
More than 100 percent of Orkney Istands' energy is produced from renewable sources. As the sustainability coordinator at FVS, Garr wanted to find out how and what this could mean for Fountain Valley. Thanks to the Ballantine Grant, she traveled to Scotland last July and came back with fascinating insights.

Students Visit Mosque, Observe Worship and Ask Questions

Our Islam and the West class visited the  masjid  where we observed the  juma  service.  Jumu'ah , meaning "to gather with one's community," was extended to us as we were invited to visit the Islamic Center of Colorado Springs. It was an interfaith kind of day, as on our drive there, a few students entertained us in song from their Bat and Bar Mitzvah days. It brought us good energy and many laughs.

Olympian Bernie Traurig Trains FVS Equestrians

From October 13 to 17, Bernie Traurig hosted a clinic at Fountain Valley. A leader in the world of English riding and an Olympian representing the United States Olympic Team in all disciplines—show jumping, dressage and eventing—his teaching expertise is highly sought after and was an unforgettable experience. 

Bonnie Bertram '82's Documentary on Sexual Harassment Featured in New York Times
Bonnie Bertram ’82 , Emmy-nominated producer of the Retro Report, recently premiered a segment on sexual harassment in the workplace. The Retro Report video, which earned a spot as the top story on the New York Times’ home page on Oct. 17, was particularly timely given the recent allegations of sexual harassment dominating the news cycle.
