Capital Campaign Progress and Athletic Center Groundbreaking

The framework for the new maintenance facility on campus is going up, but that's not all! A new roundabout has been added at the front entrance, new roads are already being paved, and faculty housing will be completed soon.

To keep you informed, we've created a Campaign Progress area on the FVS website. We'll be updating it weekly with photos and construction reports...and soon we will have drone videos.

Also, check your email for an invitation to the Athletic Center groundbreaking on Friday, Oct. 6, at 11:30 a.m.
Bringing Creativity to the FVS Community
Fountain Valley School's arts program is in good hands with Curtis Singmaster taking over the reins as department chair this year. An artist and athlete, he enjoys working with beginning and experienced artists, and teaching helps inspire his own creativity.

Hawley Library Isn't What It Used To Be
At All-School this month, Director of Global and Tech Integration Toni Olivieri-Barton P '17 shared the "Top 10 Facts About the Hawley Library." It's not often one wonders what's so exciting about a library, but at Fountain Valley School, the library is a center of learning, technology and creativity.

Your Review Brings Students to FVS
Students and families are increasingly headed to online school reviews in their decision-making process. Writing a short review of Fountain Valley is a great way for you to help families understand the value and impact of the distinctive FVS education. Alumni and parents are our best advocates, and writing a positive review goes a very long way.

Would you please consider writing one? The top places for prospective families to find us are, in order of importance:

Google (type in Fountain Valley School in search)

You can copy and paste your review in on all three sites.
Thank you! Every review helps.
From the Athenaea Archives
Every month in the Prairie Post, English Department chair and Athenaea adviser Dave Reynolds P '13, '18 will share a piece from an historical Athenaea issue.

" First, pop quiz," says Dave. "In the last 25 years, the Athenaea has had two sets of sisters who were editors. Name them."

Toothpaste Math
Math faculty Dave Brudzinski started off the school year with an unusual project for some of his students. There might have been some confusion when he brought out tubes of toothpaste and inspired the kids to work together to find common ground.

Chasing an Olympic Dream
Former Fountain Valley School star athlete Kim Donaldson '12 had the opportunity of a lifetime over the summer—the chance to pursue a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team.

Donaldson's tryout at the Olympic Training Center didn't go exactly as planned, but now she is more determined than ever to conquer any challenge that comes her way.

Did you know that nearly 80 percent of our students and families come to Fountain Valley through word-of-mouth? This is in great part to friends like you. Here's a fun fact: Twenty-six percent of our student body is a sibling, the sibling of an alumna/us, or a legacy student. That represents a lot of votes of confidence in Fountain Valley School!
