Do you know our Outdoor Code? As an American I will do my best to be clean in my outdoor manners, be careful with fire, be considerate in the outdoors, be conservation minded! Cub Scouts with Pack 744 are taking good advantage of the beautiful spring weather, enjoying a hike and practicing the Outdoor Code at Poor Farm Park in Ashland. | | Hello, Heart of Virginia! | | |
Be A Legend. Be A Leader. Be A Lawn Mower.
Bigfoot Spotted at the Heart of Virginia Council Scout Reservation! Turns out, he's not just a legend—he's a lawn care icon. This summer, grass doesn’t stand a chance; but even Squatch can’t mow down all that wild and wonderful acreage on his own. We’re calling all trailblazers, weed-whackers, and zero-turn champions (a.k.a. mow-ti-vated individuals 18+) to join our Volunteer Lawn Enforcement Team at Camp T. Brady Saunders and Cub Adventure Camp. Ready to roll? Contact our HOVC Scout Reservation Manager, James Hinkley.

Patrick Henry Public Speaking Merit Badge Forum
May 17th & 24th
Interested in completing the Public Speaking and Communication merit badges? Scouts are only required to attend on May 17, but May 24 will be available for those who need extra time to complete their requirements. Due to limited availability in the Communication merit badge classes, Scouts are asked to complete the Public Speaking merit badge before registering for Communication. While not a formal requirement, taking Public Speaking first will help Scouts build strong foundational skills and get more out of the Communication badge experience. And yes—Patrick Henry will be making a return appearance this year!
