Shalom friend, This Gift in Action explains how your donation to the Jewish Federation of Ottawa's Annual Campaign helps provide three core social service agencies, The Bess and Moe Greenberg Family Hillel Lodge, Jewish Family Services, and Tamir, with more than $885K funding through three funding streams: regular annual allocations, strategic purposeful grants, and emergency funding. Each of these agencies does critical work in our community and your gift allows them to protect those who are often most at risk.

For Hillel Lodge, your donation means that 121 seniors can receive Kosher meals and specialized Judaic programming. Strategic funding helped support additional programming for seniors to help enrich their golden years, while emergency funding allowed the Lodge to hire more personal support workers and to maintain important infection control measures to keep vulnerable seniors safe during COVID-19.

For Jewish Family Services, your donation means that families and individuals in need can receive emergency financial assistance, counselling, and help with food security. Specialized funding provided diversity and inclusion training for staff. Emergency funding provided a host of additional supports to society’s most vulnerable, like subsidized access to Kosher Meals on Wheels, and technology needs to allow for virtual connections during times of extreme isolation.   For Tamir, your donation means that people with developmental disabilities can realize their potential and live their lives to the fullest in a supportive Jewish environment. Strategic funding provided consultancy for their strategic plan, professional development, and training for their board and the community as well as support for inclusivity projects like Jewish Disability and Inclusion Month and the creation of a new inclusive siddur. Emergency funding provided upgraded technological capacities, which were essential in providing families with a way to be in touch with their loved ones during the difficult days of lockdown.

These are just a few examples of how your support provides various Federation funding streams, to ensure a thriving Jewish community that is welcoming, inclusive, accessible, educated, and engaged.
