As we celebrate this year’s graduates across CAMBA—some of whom you'll meet in the story below—we are reminded of the incredible potential, resilience, and promise our young people hold. They are our hope for the future, even as that future feels increasingly uncertain.

The proposed federal budget cuts and harmful legislation targeting food assistance, housing vouchers, Medicaid, education, and other lifeline programs would have devastating consequences for the nearly 80,000 New Yorkers CAMBA serves each year. These aren’t abstract numbers—these are families, seniors, youth, immigrants, and neighbors. While the changes may not happen immediately, the impact could echo through generations.

CAMBA stands ready to respond. But the same cuts that threaten our clients also jeopardize our ability to serve them. Proposed federal cuts to the City have the potential to reduce funding for critical CAMBA programs that make a real difference every day.

Eagle Academy for Young Men

The Eagle Academy for Young Men in Ocean Hill, Brooklyn – a CAMBA College Bound school – recently held its annual ‘Decision Day’ ceremony.

During the event, nearly 100 graduating seniors from the Class of 2025 walked across the stage in front of a packed auditorium as their post-high school decisions were announced, with their friends and family members watching and cheering them on. Among the colleges and universities selected by this year’s graduates are the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, New York University, St. John’s University, Ithaca College, Delaware State University, University at Albany, the State University of New York at New Paltz, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and Howard University.

CAMBA College Bound employs proven strategies to help students improve attendance and academic performance, guiding them to high school graduation, college enrollment, and college graduation.
