Kindness in Action at Rocky Mount Elementary

Club members at our Rocky Mount Elementary School (RMES) Club spent time putting together care packages and creating handmade cards for neighbors in our community who may be going through a hard time. They wanted to spread a little kindness and remind others that they are cared about.

Our staff delivered the care packages and cards to Stepping Stone Mission, where they will help brighten the days of neighbors in need.

We are so proud of our Club members for showing kindness, compassion and what it truly means to give back.

Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation Supports Club Families

Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia and the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation are teaming up to provide access to nutritious food and work toward ending childhood hunger.

The Foundation provided a $20,000 Summers Without Hunger grant to give additional support to families and children who need access to nutritious food during school breaks.

Thank you, Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, for helping provide food and hope in our community.

 Year-End Giving Guide

Our Club members are busy getting ready for their annual Halloween Costume Fashion Show, and the jury is still out on whether candy corn counts as real candy.

Here is why we are bringing up year-end giving now: the gifts that save you the most on taxes take a little planning. New this year, even if you do not itemize, you may be able to deduct up to $1,000 in cash gifts ($2,000 if married filing jointly). Our guide also covers gifts of stock, IRA distributions and donor-advised funds.

This year's campaign theme says it all: Your Gift Today Changes a Child's Tomorrow.
