"You're Never Too Old to be Happy"
said the Senior Golden with his NEW TOY!
Dear Golden Friends:
Things have been very busy with the addition of two new programs of assistance for our two supported Sanctuaries (DVGRR & HBGRR)!

There has been wonderful feedback from the new monthly Special Treats Program for all the Special Sanctuary Residents, which as explained previously, is a 20-pound package of special high nutritional value biscuits delivered every month to both Sanctuaries (DVGRR & HBGRR) and the Two Home-Based Sanctuary Care Programs that HBGRR provides in addition to their Sugar Shack Acres on site Sanctuary. This additional Special Treats Program is in addition to the regular food, prescription diets and snacks/treats we provide both DVGRR & HBGRR Sanctuaries every month. We have been told that these additional special treats have been met with great doggy enthusiasm.

The new program that we wish to introduce to you is called
"Never Too Old To Be Happy Program"

This program been established in Memory of Carol Allen, Every Senior Dogs Protector and the Guiding Spirit for Canine Rescue Programming Across the Country.
Our new program has already been started thanks to  Sherry Wyskiel's generous donation in Memory of her beloved heart dog Katie (pictured below). Katie's full name was Drew Woods Kiss Me Katie CGC,CCA, RAE2,RL1,RL2,RLVX2,CD.

HOW YOU CAN HELP?  Every item is deeply appreciated.

We hope that you will consider participating in this program by donating an appropriate interactive item to help enhance the mobility and quality of life for the Sanctuary Residents when you buy a toy or other item for your own dogs. You can mail it to our program and when we collect enough for a delivery we will send them out to the Sanctuaries for distribution and use in assuring that the volunteers and staff can then use these items to fulfill each individual dog care plan to maximize the dog's stimulation, mobility and happiness. These items will enhance the quality and also even possibly the quantity of each Sanctuary Residents' days.

The following is a general list of suggested items and we are sure that you will find many more that will be helpful. Please help us to help them. Even a single jingle ball when added to other donations will be helpful. Every item is appreciated.

  1. Adaptive mobility items such as slings, toe grips, Muffin's Halo Device for blind or partially vision impaired dog to help them move about safely and give the dog confidence to move about more freely www.handicappedpets.com/halo, Ginger Lead, Muttluks Woof Walker Boots to prevent slipping especially for three legged or elderly dogs to help keep their footing and move about, and many other items that can be helpful.

Sky's Helpful Hint!

Do not let your dog sit in the front seat of a car. Restrain your dog in a secured crate or approved container or properly sized car harness for dogs situated in the back seat. Air bags if deployed can seriously hurt and even kill dogs in the front seat and can be activated even by hitting something in the road like a big branch. Keep a copy of your dog's Rabies Certificate in the car.

please send us an email!
