2025 Online Fundraising Statistics for Nonprofits


A supplemental post to 101 Digital Marketing & Fundraising Best Practices for Nonprofits, the statistics listed below can guide your nonprofit in creating and maintaining a successful online fundraising strategy.


Online Fundraising Strategy

  • 33% of donors say that email is the tool that most inspires them to give (29% social media, website 17%, print 9%).
  • 72% of individuals say that the presence of a charity rating badge increases their likelihood of giving.
  • 84% of online donors are more likely to give if their donations are matched by their employer.
  • The average donor retention rate in 2024 was 45% – down 2.6% from 2023.
  • Frequent, consistent communication with online donors results in a 41.5% increase in revenue.
  • The average return on ad spend (ROAS) for fundraising ads on Meta platforms is $0.48 USD.
  • 93% of nonprofits believe that a strong brand identity has a positive impact on donor engagement.
  • 75% of donors look for concrete information about a nonprofit’s achievements before making a decision to give.


Online Giving

  • Online giving accounts for 13.4% of small nonprofits’ total revenue, 8.3% for medium nonprofits, and 4.1% for large nonprofits.

In a groundbreaking move that marks a new era for women’s sports in Ohio, the Cincinnati Cougars Women’s Tackle Football Team, a 501c nonprofit, has officially announced its transition to the Pro Division of the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) for the 2026 season. 


The Cincinnati Country Day School community gathered in late September for the Alumni Breakfast. Two extraordinary alumni were honored for lives that exemplify the school’s values of service, integrity, and leadership. Andrew M. “Andy” Kaplan `75 received the 2025 Virtue in Action Award, recognizing his decades of dedication to others. Joel S. “Jody” Brant `87 was presented with the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award, honoring his outstanding leadership in law, philanthropy, and at Country Day itself.


Sycamore Presbyterian Church is presenting this latest FREE workshop, Click Smart, Stay Safe, Thursdays, Oct. 23 – Nov. 13, 7:00pm-8:30pm, 11800 Mason Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45249. Attendees will learn how to 1) build their own toolbox and gain insights to navigate the online world safely and confidently, 2) become "online literate," as defined by knowing how to spot phishing, scams, etc., and 3) gain the critical skills necessary to maintain personal safety in our connected world. Aaron Bley, Chief Mission Officer for Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI), was named a 2025 C-Suite Award winner by the Cincinnati Business Courier during a celebration of all honorees on October 9 at the Renaissance Cincinnati Hotel.


Community Shares of Greater Cincinnati is pleased to announce nine grants totaling $225,000 awarded this fall to support the mental health and safety of local trans youths funded through a two-year appropriation from the City of Cincinnati. 


The Cincinnati ToolBank announced the finalists for the 2025 Brewers Philanthropy Award (BPA), honoring outstanding civic leadership, collaboration, and community impact across the Tri-State's craft beer community. Public voting is now open and runs through Monday, October 28.


CIRCLE is proud to announce the launch of Rewoven, a dynamic series of workshops and discussions aimed at addressing the pressing challenges of the fashion industry. This initiative brings together local changemakers and industry leaders to explore circular solutions and promote sustainable practices in the apparel industry. 


Cincinnati Animal CARE is debuting its first-ever Copycat Tour, Sunday, October 26, 3:00pm-6:00pm. This is a neighborhood walking event featuring 22 homes and businesses showcasing their cats in windows, on porches, and in creative displays. 


In celebration of National First Responders Day on October 28, Ford's Garage is showing appreciation for those who serve our communities with a special offer. All eligible first responders — including U.S. veterans, active-duty military, police officers, firefighters, nurses, doctors, and medical staff — will receive a free American Standard Burger or up to $15 off the entrée of their choice. This offer is valid for dine-in only on October 28 at participating Ford's Garage locations. A valid service ID is required to redeem.


Bethany House Services, Greater Cincinnati's leading provider of family homelessness services, hosted its annual Welcome Home Bash on Thursday, Oct. 16, at the American Sign Museum. The event brought together more than 300 community supporters and raised over $329,000 to help families experiencing homelessness secure safe, stable housing.


That's a lot of dough! Domino’s Kentucky Supply Chain Center in Erlanger delivered with a generous $10,000 donation to St. Vincent de Paul Northern Kentucky, providing local families in need with food, emergency rent and utility assistance, and more.


Xavier Jesuit Academy will welcome John Dau Dhieu-Deng, human rights activist, education advocate, and founder of the John Dau Foundation, for two events October 28-29. Mr. Dau will share his powerful message of resilience and the importance of refusing to let circumstances define one’s future. Find more information here.


TV personality Chef Alejandra Schrader and ReFED Executive Director Sara Burnett are the featured keynote speakers at Greater Cincinnati's Wasted Food Summit on Wednesday, October 29 at Memorial Hall. The event will feature speakers from Kroger, UDF, Sysco, Last Mile Food Rescue, La Soupe, WWF, OSU, Ohio EPA, and the Ohio Department of Health.


Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague is proud to announce a new program aimed at helping Ohio small business owners access low-cost capital. Launching later this month, Buckeye Business Advantage will offer reduced interest rate loans to Ohio businesses with 150 employees or fewer. This program comes as part of Sprague’s larger initiative to modernize the Ohio Treasurer’s office and revamp successful programs like Ag-LINK to better serve Ohioans. 


FUNDING AND RESOURCE OPPORTUNITIES

The bi3 Fund announces a new Request for Proposals (RFP), inviting local youth-serving nonprofit organizations to apply for funding to co-create or reimagine community spaces that help youth ages 12–24 build connection, belonging, and mental wellbeing. Organizations can apply for grants ranging from $100,000 to $1.5 million. In total, bi3 will grant up to $5 million to fuel solutions in response to this RFP. Letters of Intent are due December 3, 2025.

 

We are thrilled to announce the Elevar Fund’s first-ever Open Call for Applications. We invite proposals from existing 501(c)(3) organizations based in the greater Dayton and Cincinnati region. This year, we are especially interested in supporting initiatives in the following focus areas: Regenerative Agriculture & Environmental Concerns, Entrepreneurship & Invention, Immigrant & Refugee Support Services, Education & the Arts, Grant awards will range from $1,000 to $10,000. The Impact 100 2026 Grant Cycle will open on November 3, 2025, and Letters of Intent (LOIs) will be accepted until December 10, 2025, 5:00pm. Nonprofits across the 10-county Greater Cincinnati region may apply for a $100,000 grant. AMA Cincinnati Agency is a program that pairs marketing professionals with nonprofits and startups in Greater Cincinnati for a 6-month engagement to strengthen their communication and growth capacity. Selected nonprofits and startups will receive strategic marketing support (e.g. communications planning, digital campaigns, social media, branding) from volunteer teams. They'll gain tools, resources, and deliverables to help execute their missions or grow their businesses. Find more information and apply here.


Applications are now open for Southwest Ohio GiveCamp 2026, happening February 20–22. During this single weekend, local technology professionals volunteer their skills to build websites, apps, databases, and tools for nonprofits—completely free of charge. 501(c)(3) organizations of all sizes are encouraged to apply. Green Umbrella is accepting applications for its second annual Climate Research Incubator (CRI). The cohort links scholars and researchers with community members and government representatives across Greater Cincinnati, bridging the gap between research and practical steps that positively impact communities. Participants receive training in community engagement, collaborative research design, and climate justice. Following the training, the program hosts workshops and an annual symposium. Thanks to the program sponsor, CRI project seed funding will be available to apply for at the end of the program.
