This afternoon hundreds will gather in Music Hall to celebrate National Philanthropy Day, a special day set aside to promote philanthropy and recognize individuals, organizations and businesses that are inspiring change through their significant impact on nonprofit organizations.

Bill Burwinkel is the 2022 The Philanthropist of the Year award winner. The Philanthropist of the Year award is presented to an individual or group who has demonstrated outstanding civic and charitable responsibility through direct financial support of an organization or cause, has taken a leadership role in an organization and motivates others to participate in philanthropy.

This year’s Volunteer of the Year is Stacey Meyer. The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes an individual or group who has demonstrated outstanding support to an organization or cause though a devotion of time, encourages others to support an organization or cause, and is a role model for other community volunteers.

Joseph Kayne is the 2022 Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy award winner. The Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy award is presented to an individual or group who has a record of exceptional leadership and results in encouraging youth to learn about and participate in philanthropy, demonstrate leadership in an organization or cause, serve as role models for other youth and encourage other youth to participate in philanthropy.

This year’s winner in Outstanding Corporation or Foundation is SugarCreek, John & Julie Richardson. The Outstanding Corporation or Foundation award is presented to a corporation or foundation that demonstrates outstanding commitment through financial support, innovation and through encouragement and motivation of others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement.

The 2022 Lifetime Achievement in Fundraising winner is John Olberding. The Lifetime Achievement in Fundraising Award is Presented to an outstanding fundraising executive with at least 20 years of experience who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the fundraising profession and philanthropic community.

First Financial Bank and the First Financial Foundation have awarded $177,500 in grants to organizations in Greater Cincinnati, in a collaborative effort that aims to help people and communities in the area to thrive and grow. The 2022 Annual Grant Campaign from First Financial includes 59 organizations in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois. Total funding from all sources for this campaign is $494,000, making it the largest campaign in First Financial history.

1N5 is thrilled to have received grant funding from the Elsa Heisel Sule Foundation. This grant will fund, in part, 1N5's Building Resiliency in Youth program that provides mental health education and suicide prevention for 150K students K-12 at 110 schools in Greater Cincinnati. Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) is grateful for a $7,500 grant from the William H. Albers Fund for CABVI’s Early Childhood and Youth Services and Case Management Services.

Talbert House honored the Harold C. Schott Foundation with the Richard Shenk Visionary Award for the Foundation’s continued dedication to philanthropy by making a significant investment in the community. The award was presented at the 21st Century Luncheon, an annual event hosted by the Foundation for Talbert House to celebrate and thank 21st Century Society members for their generous commitment to the future of the agency.

Cincinnati Animal CARE is encouraging families to Adopt, Don't Shop this holiday season with extended hours and reduced adoption fees for Black Friday, November 25. The shelter will be open from 1:00pm – 9:00pm, with adoption fees reduced to just $9.99 for all animals over 6 months old. Those interested in adoption can view CARE's adoptable animals here.

Last Mile Food Rescue is pleased to receive several community foundation grants, including $10,000 from the Andrew Jergens Foundation, $10,000 from the Duke Energy Foundation and $10,000 from the Scripps Howard Fund. 

St. Vincent de Paul Northern Kentucky is hosting their first of two coat distributions this Saturday from 9:00 am to noon at Newport Intermediate School in Newport, Kentucky, and Life Learning Center in Covington, Kentucky. Nonprofit Funding and Resource Opportunities
AMA Cincinnati Agency is a new service that matches teams of talented marketing professionals with nonprofits and startups on marketing projects. Applications are being accepted for nonprofits, startups, and marketing volunteers right now (through Nov. 22). Impact 100's 2023 Grant Application will go live November 1, 2022. Please join us virtually on November 2 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm to learn about Impact 100's Letter of Intent and Grant Application Process for the 2023 Grant Application Cycle. We will be joined by representatives from Grants Plus who will share some ideas and perspectives for telling your organization's story. Impact 100 will also hold a virtual Q&A session on November 10 at 1:00pm. Finally, there will be a virtual Nonprofit Panel Discussion on November 17 from 2:00pm - 3:30pm where past recipients will share their experiences. Please follow this link to Impact 100's website to learn about the process and register for each session.

Cincinnati Magazine is now accepting applications from local non-profit organizations who are invited to register to participate in the 7th annual Cincinnati Gives Challenge for FREE. During the 10-day challenge, charities compete to raise the most money November 28–December 8, with the top organizations winning thousands of dollars in cash and bonus prizes from the magazine. The 2022 Cincinnati Gives Challenge is presented by Procter & Gamble with support from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Greater Cincinnati Foundation announces a new partnership with the City of Cincinnati to strengthen the capacity of small, community-based organizations to drive equitable change in our community. GCF has established Boots on the Ground Fund to provide capacity-building grants, up to $25,000, that will allow nonprofits to build and grow their organizational effectiveness. With the support of the City of Cincinnati, GCF plans to distribute approximately $400,000 through this fund in its first year. Learn more here.

The Bell Charitable Foundation has opened a grant application this week for Economic and Social Mobility proposals. Grants will be up to $20,000. Visit the website for details.

GiveCamp is a nationwide effort that brings together a community of volunteers to donate their time and talents to build the technical resources and capacity of local non-profit organizations. In its first nine years, Southwest Ohio GiveCamp has had over 750 volunteers who contributed over 16,000 hours on 123 non-profit projects. The projects have ranged from website rebuilds to iPhone and Android applications. The 2022 Southwest Ohio GiveCamp is now accepting non-profit applications. The initial application is a simple form found on their website

Aviatra Accelerators, a non-profit accelerator devoted to empowering women-owned startups and small businesses, has opened applications for its next Launch® program, a 10-week, 30-hour program designed specifically for newer, revenue-positive businesses – those in business for between 1 and 3 years who are seeking to take their business to the next level. At the end of the 10-week program, female entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to compete for funding in Aviatra's Flight-Night pitch competition, a combination in-person and virtual event. Find more information about Launch® here or apply at: Aviatra Launch Application.

Make a Difference
All it takes is a rake and some gloves to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need! People Working Cooperatively has kicked off its annual Prepare Affair volunteer event during which nearly 2,000 people of all ages and skill levels provide fall cleanup services for hundreds of low-income seniors and residents living with disabilities throughout the region. Health insurance is influencing Americans' job choices More than 31% of people with employer-sponsored insurance stuck with a job they disliked for the company’s health insurance, a Forbes Advisor survey found. Another 8% of respondents left a job they liked to seek better coverage.
