Besides, who does not need company in their family history journey?
G. Zimmar, "Earliest Memories"
"There is not much of a family record at the time of my birth, nine months after my parents married. The honeymooners, Peter and Sophia, returned to the United States from Greece to find that dad’s business had been mismanaged to the point of bankruptcy.

Asia Minor Refugee Records Released!
540,000 records of Asia Minor Refugees have been added to our database! Apart from the refugee's given name and surname, their father's or spouse's name is also included in most cases!

One of the collection's indexers said: "Indexing thousands of names and locations, we soon realized that the history of each person and every family who experienced the events of 1922 & 1923 was unfolding in front of our eyes: the uprooting from the homeland, the efforts for a new life in Greece."

Greek Adoption Files Digitized
On August 29th Greek Ancestry and the International Social Service (ISS) - Hellenic Branch inaugurated their collaboration to digitize the invaluable archival collection of the ISS!

Covering the years from the 1950s up to 1985, our project aims at preserving the history of Greek children adopted by families abroad. In the adoption files we are discovering amazing stories and incredible documents: letters written before mothers put their children up for adoption, letters of the adoptive families, photos and drawings of children, newspaper articles etc.

Save the date! On Saturday, Dec 3rd, at noon EST (7pm Greece) the ISS and Greek Ancestry are hosting a live webinar on ISS' YouTube channel. Mary Cardaras, Linda Carol Trotter (Eftychia), Gonda van Steen and Katerina Bakogianni will talk about the importance of the preservation of the ISS historical archive!
Over 800 cases or 45,000 pages have already been digitized! Click on the button below and help the ISS preserve its archive!
