Dear Healthcare Leaders,
As another eventful year winds down, we reflect on all that the chapter has provided in 2021 and we look ahead to 2022. New offerings in 2021 included the successful launch of a high-quality, comprehensive Board of Governors exam preparation program. The program has already resulted in chapter members achieving their fellow accreditation, with 15 adding an “FACHE” to their credentials in just the last half of 2021. We also held a well-attended three-event Leadership series, featuring speakers spanning our geographic scope from Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware. An inaugural new member networking event helped drive chapter connection from the get-go. With so many new board members this year, the board was also able to come together virtually for a retreat to learn more about each other and consider what the future could look like for the chapter.
A survey of activities and events offered again due to their success include our Breakfast with the Regents, Annual Meeting, Holiday Event with DVHIMSS, Early Careerist events, mentorship program, and community service opportunities such as the card drive for veterans which again exceeded its goal. We grew in numbers, both drawing new members and reengaging past members this year, with several percent increase in the last half of 2021 — and we also connected with local colleges and universities to bring students into the chapter. We honored awardees who exemplify leadership in healthcare administration and recognized the work of our volunteers in our annual report. We kept the community updated in this quarterly newsletter and weekly update emails. Throughout the year, we appreciate our generous new and loyal sponsors who made these and other efforts possible.
In the next year, we anticipate engaging in continued learning about how to connect people in leadership development, service and building community while helping to ensure safe gathering. Early opportunities include a service event on Martin Luther King Day weekend and the March 2 Breakfast with the Regents event. Our relationship with our parent organization, ACHE, also brings opportunities to participate in the national conversation on healthcare leadership. The upcoming annual conference, ACHE Congress, will be held in Chicago between March 28-31.
As always, one of the most rewarding opportunities offered through HLNDV is to contribute your knowledge and skills as a volunteer, building your network and gaining perspective from other leaders along the way. If you would like to become involved with our chapter, we would be happy to welcome you into one of our committees. Please contact me at the email below, or our Volunteer Coordinator, Meredith Inniger, at volunteer@hlndv.achechapter.org.
With best wishes for a warm and safe holiday season,
Carey Gallagher, MBA, FACHE
