With a diverse medical career spanning internal medicine, hospitalist care, and rheumatology, Dr. Ahmed has considerable experience in many aspects of patient care. Through his practice, he approaches each patient encounter with empathy, clinical experience, and a commitment to patient well-being. Dr. Ahmed sees adult patients for various conditions relating to rheumatology, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, psoriatic arthritis, and more.

Michael sees patients for a variety of orthopedic conditions, including fractures, painful joints, swollen knees, hip pain, degenerative shoulders, arthritis, and more. Working alongside the Adult Reconstruction team, Michael also has specialized training in wound care and ultrasound-guided injections. Important Update: TPMG Behavioral Health is Joining Sentara Medical Group
Effective August 8, 2025, TPMG Behavioral Health will become part of Sentara Medical Group and transition to Sentara Behavioral Health Specialists. The office location and phone number will remain the same.
Please note that although the transition to Sentara Medical Group will take effect on August 8, the office will be temporarily closed for in-person visits due to scheduled construction. Sentara Behavioral Health Specialists will reopen for patient appointments in the office on August 25. During this time, patients can still call the office for medication refills and to schedule future appointments. There may be a small delay due to the influx of patients they are adding to the Epic schedule; however, Sentara is committed to seeing patients as quickly as possible.
Beginning August 8, you’ll find updated practice information on sentara.com. Patients will continue to use their current patient portal for other TPMG services, but for care provided by Sentara Behavioral Health Specialists, please register for Sentara MyChart.
