The Parent Support team would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for being an essential part of our journey this year. 2024 has brought incredible milestones for our department, and we owe much of that success to you—the dedicated and inspiring families we are honored to work alongside. Witnessing your growth, resilience, and the amazing progress of your children has been both a joy and a privilege.

As we approach the holiday season, we wish your homes to be filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished moments.

Let's also celebrate these days in December:

Special Education Day, celebrated on December 2nd, commemorates the 1975 signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. This landmark law ensures that children with disabilities receive free public education tailored to their needs and supports early intervention services to help young children develop and succeed.

International Day of People with Disabilities is celebrated annually on December 3rd to support the rights and well-being of people with disabilities. This day raises awareness about the challenges they face and advocates for their inclusion in all areas of life.

Human Rights Day is celebrated annually on December 10th to commemorate the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. This day serves as a reminder that everyone, regardless of who they are, deserves basic rights and freedoms.

Bright Beginnings provides a wide array of individualized services to caregivers and children in Cuyahoga County impacted by lead exposure.

No level of lead is safe for children, as even minimal amounts in their blood can cause lifelong health effects. The good news is that, with proper precautions, we can reduce the risk of lead exposure in our homes. Since we often spend more time indoors during the winter, it's especially important to be extra vigilant about staying lead-safe. Remember that feeling of wonder and excitement as a child? It came from the endless love, late-night preparations, and small acts of joy from a parent who wanted nothing more than to make the season special. Here’s to the magic-makers—the parents—who light up the holidays with their love.

Parents as Teachers provides parents with the knowledge and tools that support the health and development of young children at every stage.

The holidays can be a stressful time. Here are some strategies to help you cope:

Give yourself a break. Take a walk, listen to music, or practice deep breathing techniques.

Talk it over. Share your thoughts and feelings with someone you trust.

Plan something enjoyable. Schedule an activity you love—and make time to do it!

Write it out. Journal or jot down your thoughts to help process your emotions.

Get moving. Exercise or engage in physical activity to boost your mood, increase energy, and sharpen focus.
