MELISSA MULLIS PROPERTY GROUP

And Finally, Spring!

Time to venture outside and enjoy this great weather, gardening, outdoor home projects, community, and a sense of renewal of all that is good.

This March, it's also time to head out to some of the events listed below including the St. Patrick's Day Parade, a gardening show, an Easter Eggstravaganza, a Gumbo Cook Off, live concerts and more.

In the Curated Content section, I've selected some articles on updating your home for Spring, stylish upgrades for Spring, decorating your Home for Spring, outdoor spaces for Spring, Spring garden trends, Easter menus, and more.

Friends, now that the Spring Home Market is upon us, if you're thinking of selling your home and would like a home analysis to see what your home is worth, let us show you how we can make the process seamless in selling your home, and helping you find a new one.

We also adore working with our Buyers to help them find their way home too!

The above mentioned content may be found by scrolling down after reading this month's Market Highlights.

MARKET HIGHLIGHTS

Below, please find national real estate housing data and infographics from the National Association of Realtors. Then keep reading to view the summary for the Louisiana market. We think you'll be most interested in what is happening here, but it helps to be aware of national market trends.

National Snapshot for the month of *January

  • Pending Sales are up 8.1% - month over month [but in the South it is 8.3%]
  • Last Month: 2.5% - month over month [but in the South it is 6.1%] so these numbers have gone up!
  • Closed Sales are down .7% month over month
  • Last Month: down 1.5% - month over month [so this is improving]

Continuing Challenges:

  • Lower inventory and no new housing becoming available any time soon to make an impact on current demand [but more listings gradually becoming available]
  • Higher interest rates attracting less buyers [but we are seeing some sellers collaborating with buyers by offering home buying incentives!]

Market Status:

  • The month of January continued to be a Neutral Market
  • Inventory is gradually rising but not enough to meet demand and there is no expectation of a sudden housing boom.
  • Prices have gone down by 6.0%

*Keep mind that data and statistics lag about 1 month behind and February's figures won't be available till the third week of March.
