April 2026

Even though April doesn’t exactly bring showers here in Arizona, it still feels like a season of growth and fresh starts. At Hushabye, we see that every day in the smallest, most meaningful ways—babies getting stronger, parents showing up, and families finding their way forward. It’s not always big, dramatic change, but it’s steady, real, and so worth celebrating. Thank you for being part of this with us and helping give these babies the healthy start they deserve.

You Helped Change 2,000 Beginnings

Over the past year, your support has helped Hushabye Nursery continue changing the trajectory for families impacted by opioid crisis. Through compassionate, evidence-based care, we have now served over 2,000 babies and their parents, helping families heal together and build stronger futures. Our innovative care model reduces the average stay for babies experiencing withdrawal from 22 days in a traditional NICU to just 7.7 days, allowing bonding and recovery to begin sooner. We are grateful to walk alongside families—and to have a community like you making this life-changing work possible.

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

November 7, 2026

Join us for a powerful evening that brings together a community of World Changers who believe every baby deserves a healthy start. What began as a hopeful vision has grown into a night of meaningful impact—raising critical funds to support substance-exposed newborns and the families who love them.

We invite you to be part of this special night by purchasing tickets or becoming a sponsor. Your support helps ensure that even the smallest stars have the brightest beginnings.

We are excited to introduce Shauna Anderson as Hushabye Nursery’s new Director of Development!

Shauna has been part of the Hushabye team since September 2020 and most recently served as our Director of Outreach and Community Education.

In that role, she helped strengthen relationships across the community and expand awareness of Hushabye’s unique model of care for mothers and babies impacted by substance exposure.

Shauna holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from Arizona State University’s Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation. During her time at Hushabye, she has worn many hats and played an important role in growing our programs and community partnerships. Her deep understanding of our mission and the families we serve makes her uniquely suited to help expand the support that sustains our work.

Shauna is also the proud mom of three adult children and brings both professional expertise and personal passion to everything she does. In her new role, she is excited to connect more people in the community to Hushabye’s mission and help ensure that every baby has the chance for a healthy start.

Did you know...Hushabye Nursery is partnering with Carnegie Hall through their Lullaby Project at the Weill Music Institute?

We are working with alumni moms and caregivers to create original lullabies that promote postpartum attachment and bonding. Our Development Consultant, Betsy Ganz—also a working musician—is writing songs alongside families who have received care at Hushabye Nursery and Arizona Women’s Recovery Center. Together, they transform personal experiences into gentle, meaningful songs for their children. The process centers each individual voice, helping express love, hope, and presence through simple melodies and honest language.

Through guided prompts and collaborative songwriting, moms and caregivers reflect on what they want their children to feel—especially during moments of absence, stress, or uncertainty. Betsy supports them in shaping these reflections into lullabies using accessible musical structures and encouraging singing. The act of writing and singing becomes a form of emotional regulation and reconnection, reinforcing attachment and offering a lasting expression of care.

This work extends beyond music—it’s a continuation of Hushabye’s mission to support long-term healing and family

stability. By inviting alumni moms back into a creative, affirming space, the program builds confidence, community, and identity as tools for sustained recovery. These lullabies become lasting artifacts of resilience—simple, repeatable rituals of love that strengthen the bond between mother and child while honoring each family’s journey.

We’ve also connected with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra (another Lullaby Project partner) and are planning a collaboration with a Hushabye mom in northern Arizona.

As a joyful addition, we are sourcing guitars for moms who were once musicians but lost their instruments along the way. Our goal is to place a guitar in the hands of anyone ready to reconnect with their music. Our wonderful partners at Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery are helping repair donated guitars as we work to match them with our Lullaby Project musician moms.

Now you know.

Maddie has been a dedicated team member at Hushabye for three and a half years and has grown to be one of the best Patient Care Associates on the team. She serves as a preceptor, an expert baby cuddler, and a leader who is always looking to improve the care we provide. She is perpetually smiling and willing to help out however she can.

We are so grateful for this World Changer!

We invite you to partner with us. Whether through a gift, a sponsorship, or simply sharing our story, your involvement helps us reach more families, expand access to care, and continue this life-changing work. Help a Baby Have a Healthy Start.

Thank you for standing with us and with the families we serve.
