Thank You for Years of Service to ISBT, Kathy Magee!

Kathy Magee, after being a member of the ISBT since 2012, is stepping back from her duties to focus on other responsibilities and opportunities. She has served in various capacities, including presenting at committee meetings, serving as Chairperson for the Retail and Fountain Technology Committee, heading the Membership Committee, and serving on the Board of Directors. She will be serving until the end of 2022, or sooner, as replacements are identified.

Says Kathy, "I have thoroughly enjoyed these past 10 years of volunteering with the ISBT organization. I sincerely appreciate the warm friendships and time spent with like-minded industry professionals as well as opportunities to grow my leadership skills.

While I am sad to leave this organization, I am proud to look back at the work our committee has done and the guidelines and events we have facilitated. I will continue to follow the society's progress through social media and plan on attending events as possible. I will also be available to volunteer occasionally as time permits.

If you would like to stay in touch, I would love to hear from you at or 210-912-8387.

Thank you again for the 10 wonderful years and I look forward to ISBT’s continued success in being the Beverage Industry’s subject matter experts."

Halloween originated in Ireland and came to the U.S. during the Great Potato Famine immigration in the 1840s. From the Celtic celebration of Samhain, people would put treats of food out to pacify evil spirits, which led to modern-day “trick or treating”. The Irish started the tradition of jack o’lanterns from a folktale about “Stingy Jack”. Turnips were first used, but pumpkins, which are easier to carve, became more popular.
