Brian Stegmann Transitions into Executive Director Role

I would like to introduce myself and speak to my vision on the organization as I move into the role of Executive Director. I have just retired from Ingredion after 42 years of service. Beginning September 1, 2020, I will continue working with Larry Hobbs on my transition into the Executive Director position. On January 1, 2021, I will become acting Executive Director, and Larry will work with me in a support role for the rest of year.

I want to take this time to thank Larry, the Board of Directors, our support staff, and all of ISBT’s members for their help in this transition. I feel I have gathered valuable information and knowledge in my tenure with Ingredion, not to mention in my roles as President and Treasurer of the Society. We all have gone through a very difficult time with the Coronavirus, and it has forced the Society and business in general to make many significant changes. We had to cancel our annual meeting in San Diego this year, and we are working hard to determine how the meeting will look in Orlando next year. This virus has impacted the whole world and has forced us to convert all of this year’s regional meetings into a virtual format.

To further enhance the value of your ISBT membership, we have set up webinars on many topics that impact our day-to-day business. We have also worked with the Beverage Institute by ISBT® to provide technical content in a webinar format.

Additionally, ISBT has embarked on a plan to change the configuration of the board of directors, including how they will oversee the operations of the Society. All of these items will help to better prepare our organization for the future, and I am excited to see this organization become a more member-centric society.

Committee Profile
Packaging Technical Committee

The Packaging Technology Technical Committee provides a forum for industry stakeholders to collaborate to create voluntary guidelines and best practices to benefit the industry as a whole. The committee promotes the understanding of shared beverage packaging challenges and innovative beverage packaging technologies on a global format. One such example is the recent Cetie and ISBT novel collaborative approach to jointly develop and distribute global beverage industry voluntary guidelines. The result will be a unified guideline that can be used by global brands and their suppliers while creating, producing, and packaging their products.

  • Harmonization of CETIE and ISBT Closure Test Methods
  • PET Bottle Test Methods
