Featured Board Member Profile
|
|
Johannes Angres
Why did I want to be elected to the ISBT board of directors?
I believe that my leadership skills focused on strategic cooperation are very compatible with the ISBT goals of helping our society become a global source of knowledge and innovation in the beverages industry. My professional career and my personality were very positively impacted by my international experiences, with both ISBT membership and activities as an important part of my personal growth over the years. As a member of the ISBT leadership team, I will be able to put my personal and professional skills, along with my technical expertise as a German engineer, to good use in service of our society and the beverage industry.
How long have you been a member of ISBT?
I have been a member of the ISBT since 2006.
How has membership benefited you?
Being an ISBT member gave me the chance to actively impact our industry over the last 12+ years. I have appreciated especially the interactions with other members in committee and sub-committee groups where dedication and the common professional sense in matters impacting our industry are helping to solve the upcoming challenges and to develop solutions and best practices for the beverage industry. My active work for the society gave me the chance to develop my personal and professional skills beyond the framework provided in a typical work environment.
Provide us with some of your contributions, projects, efforts, or activities with ISBT.
The Packaging Committee, with its diverse subcommittees focusing on topics close to the area of my professional work, motivated me pretty early to active participation. As Chair of the Correlation of the CO2 Test Methods Subcommittee and Co-Chair of the Torque and Application Angle Subcommittee, I have been able to support the ISBT in developing guidelines around these two important topics. Since 2016, I have been part of the team organizing the ISBT Meeting in Europe, and since 2017 have been the BevTech Europe Technical Programme Leader. Over the last two years, I have been the chair of the Packaging Committee. It is a great honor to serve on this ISBT committee with its very active sub-committees, creating the largest number of guidelines contributed to the society (with more to come!). Supporting and motivating our sub-committees in their efforts to continuously adapt to transforming industry needs and to collaborate within and beyond ISBT is my major focus as the PTC chair. We have just completed work on the harmonized closure guidelines between ISBT and Cetie, a specific example of how collaboration is successfully extending the global footprint of the ISBT.
What do you hope to accomplish as a board member?
My goals as a member of the board are pretty much the same as my personal goals:
- maintaining our industry’s high technological guidelines
- motivating industry professionals and ISBT members to active participation
- emphasizing to the industry and our members that fairness and open exchange are the most important ingredients for solutions and guidelines that benefit our industry
- supporting the interdisciplinary exchange between different industry areas and ISBT committees – understanding that most of the challenges coming up these days are global – and impacting/touching not just one but often different aspects of our industry
- conserve our knowledge and expertise as “wisdom” sources for our industry
- grow the intentional impact of the ISBT
Are there any goals you would like to help the ISBT achieve?
Extend the footprint of the ISBT – globally
What does being a member of the ISBT mean to you?
What I love about our society is that ISBT is able to motivate its members to active and dedicated cooperation, helping to keep our industry innovative and focused on high technology excellence. It is great to be part of an organization of industry professionals (humans behind global brands) sharing professional interests, dedications, and passions, while interacting in fair and open communication of knowledge. These are for me the true “ingredients” to positively impact the beverage industry future.
