Telarus Partner Summit

Meg Toups, BlueSky Founder and CEO, attended this year's Telarus Partner Summit from June 23-25, 2015. Hosted at the world class Stein Eriksen Resort in Park City, Utah, Telarus Partner Summit is an impressionable event for Telarus current and prospective partners. Women in the Channel (WIC) hosted an event during the Summit to discuss "How to stay relevant in an ever-changing industry." Meg Toups participated in the panel as a guest speaker.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be asked to share my insights with my peers and women leaders in IT and Telecom," Meg shared after the discussion. "I hope that any of my lessons learned will help others excel and achieve their goals and dreams!"

WIC is a grassroots  organization made up of women who are in leadership, ownership and revenue generating roles in the alternate sales channel sector of the telecommunications industry. F or more on Women in the Channel and how you can become a member:   Click Here

An Answer to the Security Problem

Everybody in the business and technology world has heard of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).
They've heard the pros (employee morale and flexibility, greater productivity) and the cons (lack of security and control, complications for IT). What they may not have heard of is the alternative solution known as Company Owned, Personally Enabled, or COPE, which provides similar benefits to BYOD while avoiding some of BYOD's biggest risks and pitfalls. See below:

BYOD: No Security, Unprotected Data
  • Lack of Security
  • Lack of Control
  • Complications for IT
  • Don't Own the Number
  • No Device Standard
  • No Control Over Rate Plans
  • No Control Over Service Provider
COPE: Save Money, Increase Security
  • Control Over Corporate Data
  • Ability to Remote Wipe Devices
  • Payroll Deduction for Apps
  • Contracts Remain with Company
  • Company Device Standard
  • Ability for Better Rate Plans
  • Ensure Coverage Availability
COPE appears to be an ideal middle ground between the freedom and risk of BYOD and the stifling control that many employees associate with traditional enterprise telecom arrangements, achieving a satisfying compromise with employees while saving money and improving overall data security.

Founder + CEO

In 2008, Meg Toups stepped out of her comfort zone of working in corporate America where she had been a successful enterprise account manager for 12 years.  After much evaluation and support from her family, Meg decided it was time to build a reliable service company that addressed the technology challenges she saw during her career.
In the midst of a national recession, most people would have thought it was a bad time to start a business--ever the optimist, Meg saw this as an opportunity. As CEO for our 7 million dollar private company, her responsibilities include (but are not limited to): overseeing all sales, marketing, operational, technical and financial aspects and activities.
Meg is a native Houstonian, wife and mother of three. She is active in her church, and many non-profit organizations in and around the Houston area.  Meg is a former top 50 national junior and college tennis player and still enjoys the game, as well as sports in general.   She serves on the board of trustees at The Joy School and is passionate about helping kids realize their potential.
Fun Fact: Meg came up with the company name "BlueSky" while out for a run--where she comes up with most of her bright ideas.
