Iberville Museu m's Monthly Newsletter
A Look Into Our Collection
This month we would like to feature two antique wicker chairs dating back to the 1860s. These chairs are currently being displayed in our Sugarcane Room. They were gifted to the museum by Linda Miremont, whose third great grandfather is Zenon LaBauve, Plaquemine's first mayor.

The chairs belonged to LaBauve's son, Odillon LaBauve, and his wife, Pamelia Mille, and were original to the couple's antebellum home at 602 Court Street, Plaquemine LA.

Photographing the Collection
This month we have started taking photographs of all the items in our collection.

And, with over 1,000 objects and photographs cataloged in our records, its bound to be a long but interesting journey!

We want to give a big thanks to Paul Bouy for volunteering his time and skills.

If anyone knows the proper name for the object being photographed in the picture above, please contact our curator. (225) 687-7197.
Become Apart of Our Research
We are still asking for pins for our map of the Atchafalaya basin. If you or your family have or had a camp, houseboat, or home near the basin, come visit the museum and pin its location on our map!

Your pin will be anonymous.
Grey Monkey Parade
Our King, Queen, and baby monkey are currently on loan to the Iberville Parish Libary in preparation of the 33rd Grey Monkey Parade!

The children's parade dates back to the 1950s and will take place on April 27 at 12:30 PM at the Waterfront Park.
"Coffee with the Curator," a new monthly series, where you can learn about the curator's current research, view artifacts you wouldn't normally see, or share your own research and knowledge of Iberville's history, will take place this Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 10:00 A.M .

This month our curator, Meghan Sylvester, will share her research on the history of sugarcane in the Atchafalaya basin.

You may RSVP by emailing us at contact@ibervillemuseum.org or calling (225) 687-7197

Starting in June 2018, our Coffee with the Curator series will be moved to the last Saturday of the month.
