Edition 10

December 2025

Welcome to the last MSEF Insider of 2025!

In a year of breakthroughs, creativity, and growth, one thing stands out clearly: science fair students are rising—and they are doing it with the support of a remarkable community around them.

Across Massachusetts, students presented independent research at our State Fairs, visited STEM companies that opened their eyes to real-world innovation, and came together at Student Symposia, workshops, and presentations. One student described these gatherings as “mass mentorship in action,” a phrase that perfectly captures the energy when young people feel supported, connected, and inspired.

This year, we reached more students than ever before, including students from 21 of the Commonwealth’s 26 Gateway Cities. From urban classrooms to rural districts, students showed us grit, curiosity, and vision. You can view our 2024-2025 Impact Report here.

Even as we celebrate, we know there is more to do. Too many students still face barriers to meaningful, real-world STEM learning. At MSEF, we remain committed to expanding access and fostering belonging, confidence, and self-efficacy. If you’d like to support this work, we invite you to make a gift here.

To our donors, sponsors, mentors, judges, volunteers, educators, and families - thank you. Your belief in young people makes this work possible, and your engagement fuels every workshop, mentorship connection, and student presentation.

As we look ahead to 2026, we are excited to continue expanding access to student-led independent STEM research.

Thank you for being part of the MSEF community and for supporting young people as they learn and grow.

With gratitude,

Helen Rosenfeld
