We’re celebrating the final exhibition of our 40th Anniversary year, and we’d love for you to be part of it! Eons: Unraveling Time opens Thursday, October 15, from 5–7 pm, bringing together 11 artists whose work explores time, memory, change, and connection. Curated by artist Maria de Los Angeles, who has previously been a featured artist at the SMA, the exhibition includes Ryan Bonilla, Cody Bustamante, Laurel Bustamante, MK Guth, Maria de Los Angeles, Charlene Liu & Isami Ching, Sara Siestreem (Hanis Coos), Gerry Snyder, Alex Valentine, and William Warden. It’s a fitting finale to four decades of bringing contemporary art and artists to Southern Oregon.
The opening will feature live music by local musician John Johns in the courtyard, wine provided by Foris Wine, and our famous hors d’oeuvres, which have developed something of a cult following. It’s a great opportunity to meet artists, explore the exhibition, and celebrate the SMA’s 40th year with the community.
If you’re not yet a member, this is a pretty great time to join. The SMA now relies 100% on community funding, so membership directly helps sustain exhibitions, programs, and operations. Members receive invitations to special events, discounts on select programs, and, at the Associate Patron level and above, NARM membership, providing free admission to nearly 1,400 participating museums across North America.
And as a special thank-you during our 40th, new members who join and attend the October 15 opening will receive a complimentary Eons: Unraveling Time exhibition catalog. Just check in at the Member Table when you arrive to receive yours. Complimentary catalogs will be available while supplies last. After the opening, additional catalogs will be available for purchase at a special discounted rate for SMA members.
We hope you’ll join us and become part of the next 40 years of the SMA!
