Thank you for volunteering Barbara Washington-Carry!
Barbara Washington-Carry is a multifaceted individual whose life is marked by a diverse range of experiences and a passion for adventure. Originally hailing from the DC Shaw neighborhood, she carved a noteworthy career path that included roles at the phone company, the esteemed National Institutes of Health, and Chevy Chase/Capital One Bank. Today, she continues to contribute to her community by working at a Montgomery County Recreation Center. It was through this role that she crossed paths with Aliesha Morris, Program Manager of the JCA Interages Foster Grandparent program, which sparked her journey as a Foster Grandparent volunteer.
Barbara's motivation for becoming a Foster Grandparent is deeply rooted in her role as a grandmother to seven grandchildren. She recognizes the importance of providing a relaxing and calming after-school activity for children. Barbara is a fervent advocate for the benefits of reading and enjoys listening to audiobooks. Her goal is to share the joy of reading with the children she works with and offer assistance with their homework, enabling them to unwind and relax when they return home from school.
In addition to her commitment to volunteering and her professional experiences, Barbara also pursues fascinating hobbies. She has a creative side and is actively engaged in ceramics, allowing her artistic talents to flourish. Furthermore, Barbara is an adventurous spirit who finds exhilaration in skydiving. Notably, she enjoys this thrilling hobby at a controlled facility in Gaithersburg. Her unique blend of interests and experiences makes her a remarkable and impactful member of her community.
