Staying in Touch
Hello, JCA Interages Volunteers,
March is Women's History Month! Molly Murphy MacGregor, Executive Director and Co-founder of the National Women’s History Alliance wrote a wonderful essay about Women's History Month describing its evolution.
To see sights right here in the DC Metro area, a company, A Tour Of Her Own, is dedicated to local women’s history.

Seeking Volunteers for One-on-One Tutoring
"School" during the pandemic barely resembled the school we have all known and experienced for years; academic challenges are many. Many students faced obstacles to learning, with changes in where classes are held and how they were presented, as well as how homework was assigned and academic support was provided. Even with students attending school, many challenges remain. Because of this, the need for one-on-one tutoring has never been greater, and there are many one-on-one tutoring opportunities available through Interages. If you are interested in one-on-one tutoring (either virtually or in-person), please contact idingledine@accessjca.org

Intergenerational Themed Play
A fun intergenerational outing
Runs Through April 8
The Hula-Hoopin’ Queen
See the Helen Hayes Award Recommended performance based on the Oprah-approved picture book by Thelma Lynne Godin, Illustrated by Vanessa Brantley-Newton, Adapted by Gloria Bond Clunie, Directed by Angelisa Gillyard
Now on stage thru April 8, this show is best for ages 5+.
Set in Harlem, this intergenerational story is a charming celebration of family and community ties.
Kameeka is confident that today she will finally beat her rival, Jamara, and become the Hula-Hoopin' Queen of 139th Street in Harlem. But she has to prepare for Miz Adeline’s birthday party, and almost ruins the day. Until Miz Adeline confesses that she's also got the itch--the hula-hoopin' itch! Her fingers start snappin'. Her hips start swingin'. Soon everyone's hips are swinging as the party spills out onto the street.
ASL-Interpreted performance: Sunday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m.
Use promo code ENCORE for 20% off tickets to see The Hula-Hoopin' Queen. May not be used on previously purchased tickets, in combination with other discounts, or on the Balcony seats - max. 6.
