Farewell to Kathi Dennis, Senior Director: A Legacy of Leadership and Resilience at JCA Interages

Kathi Dennis, Senior Director of JCA Interages, leaves behind a profound legacy as she steps down from her position. Throughout her tenure, she demonstrated extraordinary leadership and resilience, guiding the department through one of the most challenging periods in recent history. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kathi took on the daunting task of rebuilding JCA Interages from the ground up, addressing the unique challenges posed by social distancing and the sudden shift to virtual programming. Her tireless dedication to the mission of fostering intergenerational connections ensured that the department not only survived but thrived during this difficult time.

Under Kathi's leadership, JCA Interages saw tremendous growth and adaptation. One of her most remarkable achievements was her ability to pivot the department from in-person programs to virtual initiatives and, eventually, back to in-person engagements as the situation allowed. This flexibility and creativity enabled the department to continue creating meaningful intergenerational programs that brought different generations together, despite the physical separation that the pandemic enforced. Among many community partnerships, today, there are over 20 schools partnering with JCA Interages and a solid working alliance with Montgomery County Libraries, a testament to Kathi's unwavering commitment to expanding the program's reach and impact.

As Kathi steps down, she leaves behind a strong, vibrant department that is well-positioned for continued success. Her leadership has created a foundation of innovation, resilience, and compassion that will continue to shape the future of JCA Interages. While she will be greatly missed, the programs and partnerships she nurtured will remain a lasting tribute to her hard work and vision. Kathi’s contributions have ensured that the mission of JCA Interages—creating meaningful connections between generations—will endure for years to come.
