Fellow Women In Rail,
2018 was a busy and extremely productive year for the League of Railway Women. We are so grateful for your support.
In this year, we:
- Changed the organization’s name to better reflect our mission and members;
- Launched our new website, which provides additional resources for members and strengthens our brand;
- Held four successful networking events in conjunction with major industry gatherings;
- Presented longtime board member and former president Kathy Keeney with the first annual LRW Hall of Fame Award;
- Hosted another very successful annual conference, in conjunction with RSI/CMA 2018;
- Presented our annual Connie Sumara Memorial Scholarship to Payton Comazzetto,
- Held the first webinar in our new "Railroading 101" series on November 27, titled "An Overview of U.S. Freight Railroads and the U.S. Economy,"
These activities raise the profile of our organization within the rail industry and demonstrate the important role women play throughout the railroading community. I am incredibly inspired by, and grateful to, the LRW board and committees, whose vision and dedicated work ensured the success of our events this year.
I am also grateful to our
corporate partners, who support LRW through their financial contributions and contribute to the advancement of women in the rail industry.
I invite all LRW members to get more involved with our organization to make the most of your membership. Attend a networking event, volunteer to help on a committee, or consider running for a board position. I and the organization’s leadership team remain focused on bringing value to our members and improving dialog among, and support for, our membership.
As always, thank you for being a member. We are excited to share 2019 with you and look forward to what the new year will bring!
Warm Regards,
Tanis Peterson
