Top 10 Business New Year's Resolutions
|
|
These top New Year's resolutions are designed to help you do both: strike a better
work-life balance
and increase your business success in the new year.
1. Learn to Delegate and Do More of It
There are so many things to do when you're running a small business, it's easy to delude ourselves that we need to do all of them...then we wonder why we're so frazzled and have no time. Let someone else do some of the tasks for a change!
2. Promote Your Business Consistently
If you want to
attract new customers
, you have to make promotion a priority. One of your top New Year's resolutions could be to hire a marketing expert or take the time to
create a marketing plan
on your own and follow through.
3. Make Business Planning a Weekly Event
Business planning
lets you take stock of what worked and what didn't work, and helps you set new directions or adjust old
goals
. So why do it just once a year or once a quarter? Set aside time each week to review, adjust, and look forward.
4. Learn Something New
5. Join a New Business Organization or Networking Group
There's nothing like talking to other business people for sparking new ideas and making contacts. Making the effort to be a part of a group will revitalize you and your business.
6. Give Back to Your Community
There are all kinds of worthy organizations that make a difference in your
community
. Those who give get. Nothing will seed and grow goodwill for you and your business better than giving back to your community.
7. Put Time for Yourself on Your Calendar
A healthy
work-life balance
and your small business's success demand time out. All work and no play is a recipe for mental and physical disaster. Write time regularly into your schedule to "meet with yourself" and stick to that commitment. If you won't invest in yourself, who will?
8. Set Realistic Goals
Goal setting
is a valuable habit if the goals lead to success rather than distress. Resolve that the goals you set will be achievable, rather than unrealistic pipe dreams that are so far out of reach they only lead to frustration.
9. Don't Just Make Do; Get a New One
Is there a piece of equipment in your office that's interfering with your success or something you lack that's making your work harder? Whether it's an old fax machine or the need for a
new employee
to lighten your load, stop putting off getting what you need. The irritation of making do just isn't worth it.
10. Drop What's Not Working and Move On
All products aren't going to be super sellers, all
sales methods
aren't going to work for everyone, and all suppliers or
contractors
aren't going to be ideally suited to your business. If a technique, product, or business relationship isn't working for you, stop using it. Don't invest a lot of energy into trying to make the unworkable workable. Move on.
To a Better Year
If you apply these top New Year's resolutions throughout the year, you'll not only feel better but you'll have more energy to put into your business and make it the success you deserve!

4 Tips For A Successful New Year
|
|
There are four tasks that can help you set your business up for success in 2020. You don’t need a lot of time to see results - as little as one hour each week will guarantee that success is around the corner!
1) Review and reflect on the past 12 months:
Take a look back at both the good and the bad sides of things. Take stock of where you are in regard to where you want to be, and areas in which you can improve. Ask colleagues for feedback. The more detailed your reflections, as the more detailed they are, the better you'll be able to be proactive. This directly correlates to the next task:
2) Make a game plan for 2020:
It's time to turn your reflecting into action. Create a broad goal for the entire year, then create smaller goals that help you reach your main goal. From there, create an outline of how you’ll reach those goals and when you want to accomplish them. This becomes your action plan for the year.
3)
Clean up your inbox.
An overflowing inbox is one of the biggest sources of stress! Leave this stress behind in 2020 by starting off with a fresh, uncluttered inbox. Thoroughly go through your messages keeping two things in mind – is it urgent and can it be deleted?
From there, create filters to help keep your inbox as clutter free as possible. Schedule a time to do this once per month - and having control of your inbox is well within reach!
4) Finish as many small tasks as possible.
The more small tasks you can check off your to do list, the better you’ll be prepared to hit the ground running in 2020. File the paperwork that you’ve been putting off, make some of those phone calls. It’s the little things that matter the most, ensuring that you can then start the year off focusing on the bigger things and not playing catch up!
One of the greatest joys of this season is the opportunity to say thank you and to wish you the very best for the New Year. We hope these helpful hints get you started on the best success track of all!
