KardiaMobile for detecting AF
Medical Technology Guidance published 6 January, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended AliveCor KardiaMobile as an option for detecting atrial fibrillation (AF) for people with suspected paroxysmal AF, who present with symptoms such as palpitations and are referred for ambulatory electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring by a clinician.

Evaluating Quality of Life of AF Patients Following a Bleed (EQUAL-AF) - Study

Have you had a bleed in the last month, while taking anticoagulant medication for the treatment of atrial fibrillation? Would you like to share your experience?
 
Swansea Trials Unit (Swansea University) are working on a study with Bristol Myers-Squibb/Pfizer alliance. They are surveying people with atrial fibrillation (AF) who have recently experienced a bleed, while anticoagulated, to investigate the effects this may have on their quality of life. Higher Olive Oil Intake
Associated with Lower Risk of CVD Mortality

Consuming more than 7 grams (>1/2 tablespoon) of olive oil per day is associated with lower risk of cardiovascular disease mortality, cancer mortality, neurodegenerative disease mortality and respiratory disease mortality, according to a study publishing today in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. The study found that replacing about 10 grams/day of margarine, butter, mayonnaise and dairy fat with the equivalent amount of olive oil is associated with lower risk of mortality as well.
