Annual Meeting January 27
|
Mark your calendar for our Annual Meeting on January 27!
The meeting will run from 7:30 to 9:00 am at the Four Points Sheraton in Norwood and include a delicious breakfast.
The meeting will feature guest speaker Mike Kennealy, the Secretary of Housing and Economic Development for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Secretary has worked closely with Chambers across the state throughout the pandemic to coordinate relief efforts for local businesses. It was through his office that we were able to access $95,000 in grant funding to hold our “Regional Restaurant Week” and provide technical assistance to a number of small businesses in the region.
In last month's Business Connection we wrote about some of that work and at the annual meeting we will share more information about our partnership with state government and Chamber members resulted in meaningful results for local businesses.
We will also welcome our new board members and officers for 2022.
Tom O'Rourke, President and CEO

Members of the Neponset River Regional Chamber's REN 3 group participated in the Alzheimer's Association's Walk to End Alzheimer's, held in Foxborough. The team raised $670, which far surpassed their goal! In total, the Foxborough Walk raised $443,019 — that's $100,000 more than the participants hoped for. Amazing!

The Bank of Canton recently announced the release of their new logo. According to their website:
"Today we’re among the strongest community banks in Massachusetts: well capitalized, well balanced, and well positioned to serve our customers for years to come. In the past 25 years alone, we’ve grown from one branch and $181 million in assets to four branches and $850 million. Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) for COVID-19 Vaccinations
|
|
Last month, the United States Court of Appeals granted the Department of Justice’s request to lift the stay that had been entered against OSHA’s Emergency Temporary COVID-19 standard. A number of trade associations have appealed this decision to the Supreme Court. At present, it is unknown whether the Supreme Court will issue its own administrative stay while it considers the case.
After the court’s decision, OSHA announced that the agency will not issue citations for noncompliance before January 10 for the assessment of employees. As for the weekly testing, that obligation will now commence February 9 “so long as an employer is exercising reasonable, good faith efforts to come into compliance.”
The Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) requires businesses with at least 100 employees to ensure vaccination of their workers or, for those workers who are unvaccinated, masking policies and weekly testing.
The Department of Labor has provided several fact sheets and FAQs, and while these documents provide useful information, there is much more detail in the full regulatory text. Also, the U.S. Chamber has created an easy-to-digest document detailing the facts on the ETS for COVID-19 vaccinations, which can be found here.
