Hacienda el Carmen

Hotel & Spa (1722)

Ahualulco de Mercado, Mexico

Its provenance goes back to the 16th century when the Spanish Crown bequeathed the land to Francisco Merodio de Velasco. In 1722, a few Carmelite monks received the land and built the nucleus of the current building. After five years of respectful restoration of its Spanish Colonial-style architecture, the Baeza Serrano family reopened the estate as Hacienda el Carmen Hotel & Spa in September 2001.

Hotel Maximilian’s (1722)

Situated on Maximilianstraße, this locale was crafted into a brilliant guesthouse featuring Rococo architecture circa 1722.

Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, the Drei Mohren Hotel (as it was known) emerged as a popular retreat for the elite of the day. Restored after an Allied air strike in 1944, Steigenberger Hotel AG became proprietors in 1979 of Hotel Maximilian’s, showcasing this historic treasure.
