APPRENTICESHIP & EDUCATION UPDATE

We’re gearing up for our winter daytime apprenticeship classes which will be begin the end of January. Please check Flashpoint to view your apprentice’s schedule or for late registration you can find the registration packet here .

We are hosting Plumbing & Mechanical Continuing Education weekends state-wide through June 2020. We’re making stops in Mason City, Carroll, Sioux City, Grimes, Ottumwa, Davenport, Ames and Burlington – keep an eye on our website for more detailed information and to register for classes.

We will be taking the High School Career Exploration Trailer to the 2020 Des Moines Home + Garden Show on February 6-9th where we will be one of the featured exhibits. Visitors will “Test Drive the Trades” as they try out our virtual reality job sites.

Now is the perfect time of year to become an ABC of Iowa member – please let Jared know if you are aware of contractors needing our services.

We are kicking off the new year with a chance to recognize leaders in our organization or in your company. Take a few minutes to nominate someone for the Craft Professional and Contractor of the Year awards.

Project submissions opened on January 8th for our 2020 Project of the Year Award as part of the Excellence in Construction competition. This is a perfect way to showcase the success your company had this year by entering your noteworthy projects . Look for more information soon and mark your calendar for the EIC Awards night which will be held on April 17th in Altoona.

Finally, we still have a few spots open for Merit Shop Emerging Leaders. This program is designed to cultivate future leaders in the construction industry. Are you protecting your employees from the Top 4?

Falls, Struck By, Caught Between, and Electrocutions - the four categories that are the top killers in our industry year after year, both in Iowa and across the country. We owe it to our workers to watch out for these hazards and pay special attention to ladder safety and excavation safety as these were significant sources of associated hazards.
