Mary Egan, a Special Olympics Colorado youth leader from Colorado Springs, has launched a Unified Juniors program for kids with intellectual disabilities ages 4-12 in her community. As a coach, Mary focuses on helping the participants develop skills they need including balancing, dribbling, and shooting to then transition to a Special Olympics Colorado competitive team. The young athletes from the program attend the regional and state basketball tournaments and compete throughout the season. Mary has been involved with Special Olympics Colorado for more than 10 years as a unified partner, volunteer, and a member of the Southeast Area Youth Activation Committee. Do you know an outstanding athlete, volunteer, coach, law enforcement agency, family or community partner? The Special Olympics Colorado Hall of Fame Luncheon annually recognizes the contributions and achievements of individuals and organizations around Colorado that have made a significant impact within the Special Olympics movement.
