#5 Retire United Provides 'Welcome Home' Baskets to Family Keys project

Retire United members shopped for and assembled “Welcome Home Baskets” for Marathon County Social Services' Family Keys project.

On Wednesday, Dec. 6, Retire United members visited North Central Community Action Program’s office and hauled in 14 laundry baskets and 14 plastic pails filled to the top with items like laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, kitchen supplies, toilet paper, sponges, and essentials every household needs.

Jake Prichard, the NCCAP Youth Community Outreach and Family Keys Case Manager was surprised when the baskets kept coming.

“We weren’t expecting this much,” he said excitedly.

The Family Keys project provides a safe transitional home where parents who have met all court-ordered requirements can live for a short period and be reunited with their children.

The homes are furnished, but do not come with household essentials like cleaning supplies, toilet paper, etc.
