ACDA 2023: A Place of Belonging

Belonging is fundamental to being human. In our choirs, within our institutions, and as members of the greater chorus of humanity, belonging to a community means that each member is heard, understood, seen, and valued.

The 2023 National Conference in Cincinnati welcomes us all back in person to a place where we can celebrate our diversity and affinities, eliminate barriers, and inspire each other towards collective action ensuring that everyone feels they belong to our shared journey.

by the DE, MD/DC, and VA chapters of ACDA

We were thrilled to return to an in-person Voices United conference for the first time in 3 years! Our fabulous headliners included Dr. Jason Max Ferdinand, Dr. Troy Robertson, and Dr. Janet M. Hostetter. Plans are in the works for next year’s conference to be held August 3-5, 2023 at the Hylton in Manassas. We hope to see some of you there!

We held our 2nd annual Joint ACDA/MCEA Fall Reading Session on Saturday 10/15 and were once again graciously hosted by the Maryland State Boychoir! It was a beautiful fall day and we sang diverse and engaging choral music led by our four wonderful presenters Margaret Nomura Clark, Min Nam, Marcus D. Smith, and Joshua Fishbein. After the reading session, we reconnected and met new colleagues over lunch and engaged in a dialogue about ADEI (Access, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) in our choral programs.

Thank you to everyone that came out to support.
