Here is Your January

Schoolhouse Center E-Newsletter

From Center Director Jessica Hadfield

Hi Everyone!,

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! Here at Schoolhouse, we had a great celebration at the Spring Haven Club, complete with a visit from Santa. Thanks to our Advisory Council for putting together an event that was fun and put a smile on all our faces.

This month's highlights include:

  • Maybe this is the month you'll win Money Bingo, every Wednesday from 9:00am to 11:00am.
  • Find out how to solve a problem like Maria at The Media Theatre's production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC on Wednesday, January 3
  • We will celebrate January birthdays on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at noon.
  • Thursday, January 26, there are two special programs, both at 11am: Kickin' Karaoke (sponsored by Devoted) and a SEPTA Transit Fair.

Something I've noticed in my year + here is that the experience you have here at Schoolhouse is better when you share it with a friend. Make a resolution to invite a friend who has never been to Schoolhouse Center to join you here. Perhaps they'll become a member!

This month, the NFL playoffs begin. We hope to see the Eagles march straight to the Super Bowl - wear some green on Fridays to cheer them on.

Warmly,

Jessica Ward Hadfield

Thank You, Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon!

SCS and Schoolhouse Center received a GREAT holiday gift at the end of December, when the Omnibus Budget Bill passed through Congress and was signed by Pres. Biden. Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon (PA05) secured funding for 15 local projects, including $2 million for SCS for capital improvements to Schoolhouse Center.

More details are in this Delaware County Times article.

Become a member and enjoy them!

Last year, SCS provided programs and services to more than 15,000 older adults - as we rebounded from the pandemic.

Your membership dues are so important to the financial health of Schoolhouse Center and SCS. While COSA provides more than half the funding for Schoolhouse, strong membership support from participants tells businesses, foundations, and government agencies that you appreciate what SCS provides and encourages them to join you in contributing to SCS.

Schoolhouse Center membership benefits include discounts on trips/classes, priority event/voucher sign up, free/low-cost parties and events, free Wi-Fi, invaluable social service resources, and access to fitness, education, wellness, nutrition, and art programs! Plus, you will receive a 2023 membership card and name recognition on the Membership Board! All these benefits are available to Schoolhouse Center members for only $30.
