New Opportunities in 2020: Hunter Seat Medal, Jumper Classics, and Educational Webinars
New year, new opportunities! 2020 holds the inaugural USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal Finals, the debut of the Jumper Classic Series, and a new series of educational webinars.
Jumper Classic Series

Debuting this year, the USHJA Jumper Classic Series offers jumper riders competing from 1.10m to 1.40m an opportunity to earn additional prize money, Zone HOTY bonus points, and awards and recognition.

2020 USHJA Gold Star Clinic Participants Announced
Congratulations to the participants of the 2020  Gold Star Clinics . The West Coast Clinic will be held January 15-19, 2020 at the Desert International Horse Park in Thermal, California, and led by Kirsten Coe. The East Coast Clinic, led by Todd Minikus, is scheduled for January 22-26, 2020 at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. Both clinics will feature Colleen Reed as the stable manager clinician. Read more
Don't miss the action! Both clinics will be featured on Horse & Country TV through livestream provider  EQSportsNet . The West Coast Clinic will be available on demand, and the East Coast Clinic will be streamed live.
Applications Open for 2020 USHJA Platinum and Zone Jumper Team Championships
Applications are open and dates and locations where announced for the  USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships , open to juniors and amateurs at the 1.10/1.15m, 1.20/1.25m and 1.30/1.35m levels, and the  USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships , open to juniors, amateurs and professionals at the 1.40/1.45m level.

Both Zone Jumper Team Championships and Platinum Jumper Championships will be held at the following competitions in 2020:
Calling all Children's and Adult Amateur Hunter Riders
In 2020, the USHJA Children's and Adult Amateur Hunter Championships  will not take place as the Children’s and Adult Hunter Task Force works to redesign the program structure and format for a potential relaunch in 2021.

Applications Open for the USHJA Foundation $25,000 Hamel Family Scholarship for Further Education and Gochman Family Grant for USEF Pony Finals
As the New Year kicks off so do the opportunities available to USHJA members. Applications are now open for the USHJA Foundation  $25,000 Hamel Family Scholarship for Further Education  and the  Gochman Family Grant , which helps riders attend USEF Pony Finals each year.
The Hamel Scholarship for Further Education is designed to encourage further education among equestrians. Through a generous donation from the Kristen and James Hamel Family Foundation, the USHJA Foundation awards up to $25,000 to be used for college, graduate, trade, or professional school to one USHJA member each year. Interested applicants must apply by May 15, 2020.
Each year, the USHJA Foundation offers three young pony riders the opportunity to attend and compete at USEF Pony Finals via the Gochman Grant . Pony Finals takes place August 3-9, 2020, in Lexington, Kentucky, and Gochman Grant applications must be received by March 13, 2020, to be considered.

Sport History Spotlight: Getting to Know Gold Star East Clinician Todd Minikus

Todd Minikus has forged an impressive career highlighted by more than 130 national and international Grand Prix wins, eight FEI World Cup Jumping Finals and multiple winning Nations Cup team appearances. In 2007, Minikus and Pavarotti were part of the Bronze Medal-winning US Team at the Pan American Games. He won the $1 Million Grand Prix at HITS Saugerties with Quality Girl and was named to the short list for the 2016 Rio de Janiero Olympic Games.
Todd Minikus began showing at the grand prix level in 1985. With Thrilling, he won four grands prix in 1989, and in 1990 won every open jumper class at the Washington International Horse Show, including the President’s Cup, an unprecedented record.
Minikus has inspired riders with his fierce determination to succeed from his early start filling water buckets for 70 horses to earn riding lessons through his comeback from a broken collarbone and Legionnaires’ disease in 2011.
